Job summary

Vamptech Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. in Penang seeks a hands-on QA/QC leader to maintain and audit ISO 14001/9001 systems within a polymer processing environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years in quality assurance or quality control within plastics processing.
• Direct ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 auditing experience; Lead Auditor certification is advantageous.
• Degree/diploma in Polymer Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Hands-on quality-management approach with strong documentation practices.
• Experience with 8D reports and customer communication is a plus.

Job description

• Maintain, audit and continually improve the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
• Monitor, analyse and reduce production scrap, purge waste, material losses and energy consumption across all manufacturing lines.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Malaysian environmental regulations relating to polymer processing, dust control, emissions, scheduled waste and chemical storage.
• Coordinate environmental objectives, targets, improvement programmes and relevant performance reporting.
• Promote environmental awareness and accountability among employees at all levels.
• Support internal and external audits, including the preparation and follow-up of corrective and preventive actions.

Quality Control and Process Management

• Oversee the inspection and testing of incoming raw materials, including base resins, fillers, pigments and impact modifiers.
• Ensure that finished products are tested against applicable test specifications, technical standards and customer requirements.
• Monitor product and process quality across all three production lines.
• Lead root-cause analysis for off-specification batches, extrusion defects, process deviations and recurring quality issues.
• Implement and verify immediate containment, corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain accurate quality records, test results, inspection reports and product-release documentation.
• Work with production and technical teams to improve process capability, product consistency and first-pass yield.
• Manage the customer corrective-action process, including the preparation and submission of 8D reports.
• Investigate customer complaints and ensure that technical issues are resolved promptly, transparently and effectively.

Team Leadership and Quality Culture

• Lead and supervise a small team of QC technicians and laboratory operators.
• Establish clear work priorities, testing routines and performance expectations for the QA/QC team.
• Work closely with production operators to standardise raw-material handling, purging procedures, sampling methods and defect identification.
• Provide practical shop-floor training on quality requirements, inspection methods and environmental responsibilities.
• Foster a culture of accuracy, continuous improvement, product ownership and environmental accountability.
• Support cross-functional problem-solving between QA, production, maintenance, purchasing and technical teams.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of five years’ experience in quality assurance or quality control within plastics compounding, profile extrusion, Injection Moulding, masterbatch manufacturing or a closely related polymer-processing environment.
• Direct experience in managing, maintaining or extensively auditing ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 management systems.
• ISO Lead Auditor certification would be highly advantageous.
• Degree or diploma in Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a related technical discipline.
• Practical experience with polymer-testing equipment, such as Melt Flow Index (MFI), Moisture analysers, Ash-content, Flame-retardancy, Mechanical-performance equipment.
• Strong understanding of quality-control principles, root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive action, and customer complaint management.
• Experience preparing 8D reports and communicating technical findings to customers.
• Good knowledge of Malaysian environmental, chemical-handling and scheduled-waste requirements would be an advantage.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a small-to-medium-sized manufacturing environment where multitasking and direct shop-floor involvement are essential.
