Job summary

GSP is seeking a Quality Engineer in Kulai, Johor to monitor and improve in-process quality for automotive mechanical parts. You will perform SPC, MSA, and Cpk analysis and lead 8D investigations with cross-functional teams.

You will drive APQP for new parts, prepare PPAP submissions, and maintain control plans and FMEA. Training production operators and reporting KPIs are also part of the role.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on quality engineering in automotive mechanical parts manufacturing.
• Solid understanding of production processes.
• Practical experience in SPC, MSA, control plans and FMEA.
• IATF 16949 knowledge and audits experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and improve in-process quality for automotive mechanical parts.
• Lead APQP activities for new parts and processes; complete PPAP submissions and customer approvals.
• Prepare and support quality documentation; train operators on quality standards.
• Submit weekly and monthly quality KPIs to plant management and HQ.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, R&D, Supply Chain and HQ to resolve quality issues.

Monitor and improve in-process quality for automotive mechanical parts ;

perform SPC, MSA, and Cpk analysis;

lead root-cause investigation and corrective actions (8D).

2.Quality System:

Maintain and continuously improve the IATF 16949 quality management system;

prepare and support internal audits, second-party audits, and external certification audits.

3.New Product / Process Development:

Lead APQP activities for new parts and new processes;

complete PPAP submissions and obtain customer approvals;

review control plans, PFMEA, and work instructions.

Handle customer complaints, lead 8D reports, and track closure;

conduct supplier audits and follow up on incoming material quality issues.

5.Documentation & Training:

Prepare quality documents (control plans, FMEA, inspection standards);

train production operators on quality standards and process requirements.

Drive cost-of-quality reduction through process optimization, scrap reduction, and yield improvement projects.

7.Reporting:

Submit weekly and monthly quality KPIs (scrap rate, customer complaints, audit findings) to plant management and HQ.

8.Cross-functional Collaboration:

Work closely with Production, R&D, Supply Chain, and Chinese HQ technical team to resolve quality issues.

1. 1.Able to communicate in Chinese (Mandarin) for daily work with HQ and Chinese-speaking management.
2. 2.Diploma or above in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
3. 3. 3+ years of hands-on quality engineering experience in automotive mechanical parts manufacturing.
4. 4.Solid understanding of production processes.
5. 5.Practical experience in process quality management (SPC, MSA, control plans, FMEA).
6. 6.Working knowledge of IATF 16949 standard;
7. 7.Experience participating in or leading internal/external audits.
8. 8.Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD / SolidWorks / UG / CATIA — at least one).
9. 9.Has led or co-led at least one internal or external audit end-to-end.
