Job summary

Pivotal Systems in Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kedah, Malaysia, is seeking a seasoned Quality Engineer to lead daily production quality activities and drive improvement initiatives. You will coordinate MRB meetings, generate monthly quality reports, and partner with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.

The role requires a minimum 5 years in quality functions, fluency in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin, and familiarity with ISO 9001 and core quality tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Design, Mechatronics, Electrical Automation, or related fields.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience.
• Fluent in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin.
• Familiar with ISO 9001 quality management systems; Proficient in the Five Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA); Six Sigma, 8D, etc.
• Skilled in system audits, process audits, and product audits; cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Address daily production quality abnormalities and resolve with relevant personnel.
• Organize MRB meetings for timely material disposition.
• Prepare monthly quality reports and drive improvements.
• Trigger alarms on adverse quality trends and lead improvements.
• Host or participate in quality meetings.
• Support audits and ensure evidence readiness.
• Issue NCRs and coordinate investigations and CAPA.
• Ensure preventive action proliferation to similar processes.
• Act as quality partner for Change Control and qualification reviews.
• Coach quality technicians and inspectors on inspection plans.
• Support CI projects to improve quality and reduce waste.
• Define and develop subordinate job descriptions.
• Perform ad-hoc tasks as assigned.

Address daily production quality abnormalities and ensure timely resolution by relevant personnel; determine containment with proper identification and segregation

Organize MRB (Material Review Board) meetings for timely material disposition

Prepare monthly quality reports; analyze quality data, update key quality indicators, and work with relevant parties to define and drive improvement plans

Trigger alarms when adverse quality trends are observed and lead quality improvement activities

Host or participate in quality-related meetings

Support or lead internal and external audits (as auditor and/or auditee) and work with cross-functional teams to ensure objective evidence readiness

Issue non-conformance reports (NCRs) and coordinate investigations, root cause analysis, and CAPA with responsible functions

Ensure preventive action proliferation to similar processes to avoid recurrence

Act as quality partner for Change Control, advise or authorize qualification protocols, and review deliverables against success criteria

Coach and guide quality technicians and inspectors to perform inspections according to inspection plans

Support or lead Continuous Improvement (CI) projects to improve quality, efficiency, and reduce waste and scrap

Define and develop job descriptions for subordinate positions

Perform other ad-hoc tasks or projects as assigned by the superior

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Design, Mechatronics, Electrical Automation, or related fields. (Degree preferable)

Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience

Fluent in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin to interface smoothly with Chinese-speaking leadership and operational staff.

Familiar with ISO 9001 quality management systems; Proficient in the Five Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA); 6-sigma, 8D, etc.

Skilled in system audits, process audits, and product audits. Experience in authoring qualification protocol, able to work with cross-functional team and drive results.
