Job summary

Sum Technic Sdn Bhd is seeking a detail-oriented Cost Estimator specializing in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems to support project teams in preparing accurate cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions in Malaysia. You will review drawings, specifications and tender documents, source quotations, maintain cost data, and support value engineering to optimize cost without compromising quality.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline.
• 3+ years in M&E cost estimation; fresh graduates welcome.
• Proficiency in estimation software (Glodon TBQ, TME) and AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of local codes, standards and procurement practices.
• Excellent analytical, communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Review drawings, specs and tender documents to identify scope & requirements.
• Source and evaluate quotations from vendors and subcontractors.

We are looking for a detail-oriented Cost Estimator specializing in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems to support project teams in preparing accurate cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions. The role requires strong analytical skills, market knowledge, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.

Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to identify scope and requirements.

Source and evaluate quotations from vendors and subcontractors.

Maintain and update cost data, unit rates, and estimation tools.

Support value engineering exercises to optimize cost without compromising quality.

Prepare cost breakdowns, risk assessments, and present findings to management.

Requirements

Minimum a Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline.

3 years or more of experience in M&E cost estimation within construction or engineering projects. However, fresh graduates are welcome to apply as well.

Proficiency in estimation software (e.g. Glodon TBQ & TME, AutoCAD).

Strong knowledge of local codes, standards, and procurement practices.

Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.

Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
