Job summary

Private Advertiser in Malaysia is seeking an experienced QHSE leader to drive the management system in line with API Spec Q2 and ISO standards. You will provide strategic direction across operations, workshops and project execution, ensuring regulatory compliance and continual improvement.

The role requires extensive audit leadership, incident investigation expertise, and the ability to mentor a QHSE team while promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Management, Quality Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8–10 years of relevant QHSE experience, with 3–5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of API Spec Q2 and ISO Management Systems.
• Experience leading internal, external, and client audits and regulatory programmes.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and continuously improve the QHSE Management System per API Spec Q2 and ISO standards.
• Provide strategic leadership and technical guidance on QHSE across operations, workshops and projects.
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian regulatory requirements, client specifications and industry best practices.
• Lead internal, external, and client audits and certification activities; close audit findings and corrective actions.
• Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Drive risk management initiatives including hazard identification, risk assessments and permit-to-work.
• Develop and deliver QHSE training, safety campaigns, toolbox talks, and competency initiatives.
• Monitor and report QHSE performance through KPIs, reviews, and dashboards; drive continuous improvement.
• Build relationships with clients, authorities, certification bodies, and internal stakeholders.
• Lead and mentor the QHSE team and promote a proactive safety culture.

Job description

Key responsibilities

Lead, develop, and continuously improve the Company's QHSE Management System in accordance with API Spec Q2, ISO standards, company procedures, and client requirements.

Provide strategic leadership and technical guidance on QHSE matters across operations, workshop activities, and project execution.

Ensure compliance with applicable Malaysian regulatory requirements, client specifications, and industry best practices.

Lead internal and external audits, client audits, and certification activities, ensuring timely closure of audit findings and corrective actions.

Oversee incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and lessons learned.

Drive risk management initiatives, including hazard identification, risk assessments, permit-to-work compliance, and operational controls.

Develop and deliver QHSE training programmes, safety campaigns, toolbox talks, and competency development initiatives.

Monitor and report QHSE performance through KPIs, management reviews, and performance dashboards, recommending continuous improvement initiatives.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, regulatory authorities, certification bodies, and internal stakeholders.

Lead and mentor the QHSE team while promoting a proactive safety culture throughout the organisation.

About you

Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Management, Quality Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Minimum 8–10 years of relevant QHSE experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or managerial role within the Oil & Gas, Well Intervention, Drilling, Workshop, or Engineering industry.

Strong working knowledge and practical experience with API Spec Q2 and ISO Management Systems.

Experience leading internal, external, and client audits, as well as regulatory compliance programmes.

Proven experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.

Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and report-writing skills.

Professional certifications such as SHO (Green Book), NEBOSH, IOSH, Lead Auditor, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
