GESTOWN CONSTRUCTION SDN BHD in Sarawak seeks a dedicated QA/QC Engineer to join the Bintulu Division. The role focuses on implementing and maintaining quality assurance and control processes across our construction projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• 3–5 years of experience in quality assurance and quality control within construction.
• Experience in road construction, material testing, QAQC.
• Knowledge of soil, aggregate, concrete and asphalt testing.
• Knowledge of Malaysian construction standards/regulations desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections of construction works, materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes and quality standards.
• Develop and implement comprehensive quality assurance and quality control plans for assigned projects.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports, test certificates and quality documentation in accordance with contractual requirements.
• Perform material testing and verification to confirm that all supplies meet approved specifications before installation or use.
• Identify non-conformances and defects, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions to project teams.
• Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors and subcontractors to resolve quality issues promptly and effectively.
• Maintain accurate records of all quality control activities, test results and corrective actions taken.
• Conduct training and toolbox talks with site personnel on quality standards and best practices.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to quality metrics and project compliance.
• Liaise with clients and consultants regarding quality matters and provide technical support during project audits.

About the role

GESTOWN CONSTRUCTION SDN BHD is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented QA/QC Engineer to join our growing team in the Bintulu Division, Sarawak. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of quality across all our construction projects. As a QA/QC Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing, monitoring and maintaining quality assurance and quality control processes to guarantee that all work meets or exceeds industry standards, regulatory requirements and client specifications. This position is essential to our commitment to delivering excellence and maintaining our reputation as a trusted construction partner.

Key responsibilities

Conduct regular inspections of construction works, materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes and quality standards

Develop and implement comprehensive quality assurance and quality control plans for assigned projects

Prepare detailed inspection reports, test certificates and quality documentation in accordance with contractual requirements

Perform material testing and verification to confirm that all supplies meet approved specifications before installation or use

Identify non-conformances and defects, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions to project teams

Collaborate closely with project managers, site supervisors and subcontractors to resolve quality issues promptly and effectively

What we’re looking for

Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related engineering discipline

A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in quality assurance and quality control within the construction industry

Experience in road construction / material testing / QAQC preferred.

Knowledge of soil, aggregate, concrete and asphalt testing.

Experience with construction testing equipment and familiarity with quality control procedures and documentation

Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and time management skills

Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels, both verbally and in writing

Proficiency in using quality management software and Microsoft Office applications

A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement

Full driving licence and willingness to travel to various project sites as required

Knowledge of relevant Malaysian construction standards and regulations is highly desirable
