Job summary

Mega City Builder Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Senior QAQC on a contract basis to oversee quality assurance and control across all construction phases, based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. You will work on-site, report to project management, and coordinate QAQC activities with site teams to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.

The role requires a minimum of 8+ years in QAQC within construction, with knowledge of ISO 9001 or MS 1628 and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

• Proficiency in QAQC software and documentation systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive QAQC plans aligned with project specifications and industry standards.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of construction activities, materials, and workmanship to ensure compliance with drawings and specs.
• Prepare and maintain QAQC documentation including inspection reports, non-conformance reports and corrective actions.
• Test and verify materials such as concrete, steel, aggregates to meet standards.
• Supervise site teams to implement corrective measures for quality issues.
• Liaise with contractors, consultants and suppliers to resolve quality concerns promptly.
• Monitor safety protocols and environmental compliance during construction.
• Maintain quality records and document project audits and client submissions.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior QAQC staff and site personnel.

About the role
Mega City Builder Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Senior QAQC (Quality Assurance and Quality Control) professional to join our team on a contract basis. This is a pivotal position within our construction operations, based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. As Senior QAQC, you will be responsible for ensuring that all construction work meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. This role is critical to maintaining our reputation for excellence and delivering projects that exceed client expectations. You will work on-site and report directly to project management, overseeing quality control activities across all phases of construction delivery.

Key responsibilities

Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive quality assurance and quality control plans aligned with project specifications and industry standards

Conduct regular inspections and audits of construction activities, materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with design drawings and specifications

Prepare and maintain detailed QAQC documentation, including inspection reports, non-conformance reports and corrective action records

Test and verify materials, including concrete, steel, aggregates and other construction materials, ensuring they meet required standards and specifications

Supervise and coordinate with site teams to implement corrective measures when quality issues are identified

Liaise with contractors, consultants and suppliers to address quality concerns and ensure prompt resolution

Monitor safety protocols and environmental compliance throughout the construction process

Maintain quality records and documentation for project audits and client submissions

Provide technical guidance and training to junior QAQC staff and site personnel on quality standards and procedures

Prepare progress reports and quality summaries for project stakeholders and management

What we’re looking for

Minimum 8+ years of experience in quality assurance and quality control within the construction industry

Proven track record managing QAQC functions on large-scale construction projects

Strong knowledge of construction materials testing, inspection protocols and quality standards (ISO 9001, MS 1628 or equivalent)

Familiarity with building codes, regulations and safety requirements in Malaysia

Professional qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline

Experience with concrete testing, structural inspections and finishing quality assessment

Proficiency in QAQC software and documentation systems

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia

Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving abilities

Ability to work independently and lead a team in a fast-paced construction environment

Valid driving licence and willingness to work on-site

Relevant certifications such as QAQC Inspector, Concrete Inspector or similar would be advantageous
