Job summary

Oriental Sunrise Engineering Sdn. Bhd is seeking a dedicated QAQC Officer for our Lahad Datu, Sabah project.

This full-time role ensures construction activities comply with quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements, documenting tests and inspections to uphold project integrity. The successful candidate will perform site inspections, coordinate corrective actions, and maintain comprehensive quality records while liaising with project teams and clients to report quality status

Qualifications

• Formal qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Proven experience in QAQC roles on construction projects.
• Sound knowledge of Malaysian construction standards and regulations.
• Competence in concrete testing, material inspection, and structural verification.
• Proficiency with MS Office and quality documentation systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor construction activities and ensure quality compliance.
• Prepare and maintain quality documentation including inspection reports and quality control records.
• Perform material testing and verification to ensure compliance with standards.
• Identify and document non-conformances and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate with contractors and project teams to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Conduct concrete sampling, testing, and strength verification per standards.
• Inspect structural elements and finishes for workmanship quality against designs.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections and tests for project documentation.

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated QAQC (Quality Assurance and Quality Control) Officer to join our team in Lahad Datu, Sabah. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in ensuring all construction activities comply with quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. As QAQC Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and documenting construction works to maintain the highest quality standards throughout project execution. This role is critical to protecting our reputation, ensuring client satisfaction, and delivering projects that are safe, compliant, and built to last.

Key responsibilities

Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and quality standards

Prepare and maintain comprehensive quality documentation, including inspection reports, test certificates, and quality control records

Perform material testing and verification to ensure all construction materials meet specified standards and project requirements

Identify and document non-conformances, defects, and areas of concern, and recommend corrective actions to resolve issues promptly

Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure corrective actions are implemented and verified

Conduct concrete sampling, testing, and strength verification in accordance with relevant standards and specifications

Inspect structural elements, finishes, and installations to verify workmanship quality and adherence to design specifications

Maintain accurate records of all inspections, tests, and quality control activities for project documentation and compliance purposes

Liaise with project managers, engineers, and clients to report on quality status and recommend improvements

Ensure all quality control activities comply with Malaysian construction standards, regulations, and client requirements

What we're looking for

Formal qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in quality assurance and control in construction

Proven experience in quality assurance and quality control roles on construction projects, preferably in Malaysia

Sound knowledge of Malaysian construction standards, codes, and regulations, including relevant British and international standards

Competence in concrete testing, material inspection, and structural verification procedures

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with quality management software or documentation systems

Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately document and report on quality-related issues

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams including contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders

Professional certification such as CIDB certification, QAQC certification, or equivalent industry-recognised qualifications is highly desirable

Knowledge of safety protocols and commitment to maintaining safe work practices on site

Ability to work independently and manage multiple inspection activities simultaneously whilst maintaining high standards
