Job summary

SLB is seeking a Procurement Specialist in Malaysia to manage PO processing, supplier selection, and day-to-day procurement activities. You will define buying channels, ensure timely PO creation, and coordinate with Spot Buyer and Field teams for spot buys and approvals.

The role requires a minimum of five years in purchasing and procurement, with experience in Ariba, QUEST, and related tools. You will help drive continuous improvements in procurement processes and data quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degrees in supply chain, logistics or business administration.
• Minimum 5 years experience in purchasing and procurement.
• Experience with P2P processes and PO creation/management.

Responsibilities

• Process purchase orders (POs) accurately and on time.
• Define buying channels for each request and select best supplier by price, quality, and lead time.
• Create and dispatch supplier POs; follow up on PO issues.
• Involve Spot Buyer for spot buys without catalogs and Field for local knowledge or high thresholds.
• Manage day-to-day supplier relations and escalate complex issues to leadership.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects and document changes.

Job description

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for ensuring items or services are purchased from specified suppliers and are delivered upon agreed terms and conditions, seeking maximum value for the company including agreed time and cost. The Procurement Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality purchasing services on a day-to-day basis according to defined procedures, respecting quantity, quality and timing. This person ensures quality of services provided and contributes to improvement and knowledge management of purchasing processes.

• Be responsible for purchase order (PO) processing.
• Support the user defining purchase requests when needed.
• Define the correct buying channel for each request; choose the best supplier in terms of price, quality and lead time.
• Ensure that a PO is created correctly (BORG info, currencies, quantity, etc.), and follow up on any issues related to PO creation.
• Create and dispatch supplier POs to supplier.
• Involve the Procurement Specialist Spot Buyer in spot buys when no catalogs are available.
• Involve the Procurement Specialist Field in spot buys when local knowledge is required or if purchase threshold is exceeded.
• Manage day-to-day interactions with suppliers and P2P Specialist.
• Escalate complex issues to the Category Procurement Leader.
• Perform knowledge management.
• Perform problem solving for noncomplex issues with operations users.
• Trigger catalog and buying guide updates when required.
• Propose documentation changes and process improvements when required.
• Track deviations and raise nonconformances in QUEST.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects.
• Use all required procurement tools when required or mandated by process (Ariba, ASL, QUEST).
