Job summary

Schlumberger Business Support HUB Sdn Bhd is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement from specified suppliers. You will handle PO processing, quotations, and supplier coordination to deliver quality services.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and experience in procurement or supplier negotiations is advantageous. You will work within our global procurement framework to optimize lead times and costs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or Manufacturing (or comparable degree).
• Transactional procurement experience is a plus but not mandatory.
• Experience in commercial negotiation with suppliers.
• Comprehensive understanding of procurement systems, ERPs, and logistics systems.
• Knowledge of Procurement Process, Approved Procurement channels, Approved Supplier List, and Supplier Identification.

Responsibilities

• Process Purchase Orders (PO) and support user requests.
• Define buying channel for each request and select suppliers by price, quality, and lead time.
• Validate purchase requests and obtain quotations; conduct spot buys when needed.
• Ensure PO creation is correct and track PO issues.
• Coordinate with location procurement & sourcing for spot buys or threshold exceedance.
• Manage day-to-day supplier interactions and escalate complex issues to the purchasing Leader.
• Contribute to process improvements, documentation updates, and knowledge sharing.

Job DescriptionThe Purchasing Specialist is responsible for ensuring items or services are purchased from specified suppliers and are delivered upon agreed terms and conditions, seeking maximum value for the company including agreed time and cost. The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality purchasing services on a day-to-day basis according to defined procedures, respecting quantity, quality and timing. This person ensures quality of services provided and contributes to improvement and knowledge management of purchasing processes.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for Purchase Order (PO) processing
• Support the user defining purchase requests when needed
• Define correct buying channel for each request, chooses the best supplier in term of price, quality and lead time
• Validate the nature of the purchase request
• Obtain quotations, evaluate options, and conduct spot buys
• Ensures that a PO is created correctly, follows up any issues related to PO creation
• Involves location Procurement & Sourcing in spot buys when local knowledge is required or if purchase threshold is exceeded
• Manage day-to-day interactions with suppliers and field purchasing leaders
• Escalation of complex issues to purchasing Leader
• Performs problem solving for non-complex issues with field operations user
• Triggers catalog and buying guide updates when required
• Uses all required procurement tools when required or mandated by process
• Continuous improvement and knowledge management, participate in Continuous Improvement projects when required
• Proposes documentation changes / improvements to process when required
• Familiar with Procurement Procedures
• Provides advice and helps solve technical problems to comply according to the service descriptions and procedures, respecting quality and timing
• Ensures full compliance with Standards and Guideline
• Track deviations and raise non-conformance in system

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or Manufacturing (or comparable degree) or requisite work experience
• Previous experience in transactional procurement a plus but not mandatory
• Previous experience in commercial negotiation with suppliers
• Comprehensive understanding of all procurement systems, ERPs, & logistics systems
• Technical and supplier knowledge for one category and potential business segment
• Knowledge of Procurement Process, Approved Procurement channels, Approved Supplier List, and Supplier Identification
