Job summary

Georgetown Specialist Hospital in George Town, Penang is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead procurement strategy, source and negotiate with suppliers, and manage a team to ensure timely materials, cost control, and supplier performance.

The role requires a Bachelor's in related field, 5–8 years in procurement with 2–3 in supervision, strong contract management, ISO awareness, and cross-department collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, logistics, engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5–8 years of purchasing/procurement experience, with at least 2–3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, strategic sourcing, and supplier management.
• Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Good leadership and team management abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Experience in manufacturing, electronics, or industrial sector.
• Knowledge of ISO standards and procurement compliance.
• Experience managing local and overseas suppliers.
• Professional procurement certification (e.g., CIPS or equivalent) is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement purchasing and procurement strategies.
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain best pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
• Lead contract negotiations and manage supplier agreements.
• Ensure timely procurement of materials and services to support business operations.
• Analyse purchasing trends and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Manage inventory levels and collaborate on material planning.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement procedures.
• Prepare procurement reports, budgets, and KPIs for management review.
• Lead, coach, and develop the purchasing team.
• Work closely with Production, Warehouse, Finance, and other departments to support operational needs.
