Job summary

Amazon Plumbing Sdn Bhd, based in Malaysia, is seeking a skilled Purchasing & QS professional to support procurement, costing and supplier coordination for residential, commercial and industrial projects. The role focuses on sourcing materials, obtaining quotes, and managing POs within approved budgets.

You will collaborate with project managers and site teams, review drawings and BOQs, perform basic cost analysis and assist with tender pricing.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in quantity surveying, construction, procurement, business admin or related field.
• 2–3 years of purchasing/procurement experience in construction preferred.
• Knowledge of QS, materials, BOQ and project costing.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Proficient with UBS Inventory System and MS Office.
• Excellent communication, coordination and organisational abilities.
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple orders and deadlines.
• Able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Source materials, suppliers and subcontractors per project requirements.
• Obtain and compare quotations to ensure competitive pricing.
• Negotiate prices, terms and delivery schedules with suppliers.
• Prepare and issue Purchase Orders on approval.
• Monitor POs, material availability and delivery status.
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely site delivery.
• Follow up on outstanding orders and resolve issues.
• Maintain supplier/subcontractor records.
• Support QS/project team with costing and measurement tasks.
• Assist in tender pricing and cost analysis.
• Maintain documentation: quotes, POs, DOs, invoices.

Requirements & Qualifications

1. Purchasing & Procurement

• Source materials, suppliers and subcontractors according to project requirements.
• Obtain and compare quotations to ensure competitive pricing.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms and delivery schedules with suppliers.
• Prepare and issue Purchase Orders (PO) upon approval.
• Monitor purchase orders, material availability and delivery status.
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery to site.
• Follow up on outstanding orders and resolve purchasing or delivery issues.
• Source alternative suppliers and materials when required.
• Maintain and update supplier and subcontractor records.
• Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, availability and delivery.
• Maintain good working relationships with suppliers.
• Monitor material prices and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.

3. QS / Costing Support

• Review drawings, BOQ and project requirements to understand material quantities and specifications.
• Assist in preparing quantity take-offs and basic project costing.
• Obtain supplier/subcontractor quotations for QS and project costing purposes.
• Assist with quotation comparison, tender pricing and cost analysis.
• Assist in checking material quantities, project costs and Variation Orders (VO) when required.
• Support the QS/project team with costing and measurement matters.

4. Documentation & Coordination

• Maintain proper records of quotations, comparison sheets, POs, DOs, invoices and purchasing documents.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Site Supervisors and Finance on purchasing requirements.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and project teams to ensure purchasing requirements are fulfilled.
• Ensure purchasing activities are carried out according to company procedures and approved budgets.

5. General Duties

• Support the existing QS cum Purchaser in managing purchasing and QS-related workload.
• Ensure assigned purchasing activities are completed accurately and on time.
• Perform other purchasing, procurement or QS-related duties assigned by management.
