Job summary

PMX Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead end-to-end MEP delivery for large-scale data centre projects in Malaysia. You will manage planning, scheduling, budgets and contractual obligations, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams across sites to ensure safe, on-time project completion with quality outcomes.

The role requires a hands-on leader with strong communication skills, extensive experience with MEP contractor environments, and willingness to travel to project sites

Qualifications

Job description

Lead MEP project delivery from planning through handover, managing project teams, schedules, budgets and contractual requirements to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, scope and the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and manage project execution plans, schedules, budgets and resource allocation.

Monitor project progress, identify delays and implement recovery plans to achieve delivery milestones.

Coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and controls works, resolving interfaces with civil and architectural teams.

Review drawings, specifications, technical submissions and method statements with the engineering team to ensure compliance and buildability.

Monitor project costs and forecasts, manage budget variances and identify opportunities for cost optimisation.

Work with the commercial team on progress claims, invoicing, variations, subcontractor payments and contractual notices.

Identify project risks and resolve technical, construction and contractual issues within delegated authority.

Ensure compliance with client requirements, applicable codes, safety procedures and quality standards.

Lead project meetings and maintain effective communication with clients, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders.

Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, defect rectification and handover documentation.

Prepare project performance reports covering progress, costs, risks and outstanding matters.

Support tender preparation and guide project teams to improve delivery performance.

Requirements

Minimum 8 - 10 years of relevant MEP project management experience, including experience leading projects in a project management capacity.

Proven hands-on experience with an MEP contractor, managing site installation, subcontractors, manpower and multidisciplinary coordination.

Experience in delivering data centre MEP projects, with a sound understanding of critical power, cooling, fire protection, plumbing and controls systems, is highly preferred.

Strong experience in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, cost control and contract administration.

Experience managing testing, commissioning and project handover.

Strong leadership, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 would be an advantage.

Willingness to work at project sites and travel as required.

Candidates with substantial experience leading large-scale projects and taking overall delivery and commercial responsibility will be considered for the Senior Project Manager or a higher position.
