Job summary

Gadang Group of Companies in Johor Bahru, Johor, is seeking a Project Engineer (Civil) on a contract basis to oversee on-site execution, ensure compliance with specifications, and deliver quality outcomes on time and within budget. You will coordinate with contractors and clients, review construction methods, manage documentation, and support budgets and resource allocation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 3–4 years of civil engineering project management or site supervision experience.
• Strong knowledge of civil/structural engineering, codes and standards.
• Proficiency in project management software and MS Office.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• HSE practices knowledge in construction.
• Familiarity with BIM or CAD is advantageous.
• Experience in Malaysian construction and local regulations preferred.

We are seeking a talented Project Engineer (Civil) to join the Gadang Group of Companies team in Johor Bahru, Johor. This is a contract position that offers an excellent opportunity to make a tangible impact on significant civil engineering projects. As a Project Engineer (Civil), you will play a crucial role in overseeing project execution, ensuring compliance with specifications, and delivering quality outcomes on time and within budget. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving project success and maintaining our reputation for engineering excellence.

Key responsibilities

Monitor and supervise day-to-day construction activities on site to ensure adherence to project specifications and quality standards

Conduct regular site inspections and maintain comprehensive documentation of project progress, including daily reports and photographic records

Liaise effectively with contractors, sub-contractors, consultants and clients to ensure seamless communication and coordination

Review and approve construction methods, materials and technical submissions from contractors

Identify and resolve technical issues and site challenges in a timely manner

Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations throughout the project lifecycle

Prepare progress reports, variation orders and other project documentation as required

Support project managers in budget tracking, cost control and resource allocation

Conduct quality control inspections and recommend corrective actions where necessary

About you

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from a recognised institution

Minimum 3-4 years of professional experience in civil engineering project management or site supervision

Strong knowledge of civil and structural engineering practices, building codes and construction standards

Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office applications

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Sound understanding of health, safety and environmental (HSE) practices in construction

Problem-solving capability and proactive approach to addressing site challenges

Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) or CAD software is advantageous

Experience in Malaysian construction projects and local regulatory requirements is preferred
