Job summary

Sprint Gate Engineering Sdn Bhd is seeking a Project Engineer to support planning, coordination, and technical execution of Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering and construction projects in Malaysia. You will ensure work scopes are delivered safely, on schedule, and in line with drawings, specs and regulatory requirements.

The role involves developing schedules, coordinating manpower and materials, reviewing drawings, and coordinating with design, procurement, construction, QA/QC and safety

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering or equivalent preferred.
• Relevant M&E/construction project experience; less than 5 years may be considered based on competency.
• Knowledge of Mechanical/ACMV or Electrical engineering; project coordination; drawings/specifications; method statements; QA/QC; safety; testing and commissioning.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint; MS Project and AutoCAD/viewing tools or other relevant engineering/project software are advantageous.
• English and Bahasa Malaysia fluency; Mandarin or other languages are an advantage for project communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed schedules, short-term look-ahead plans, resource requirements and progress tracking for assigned Mechanical and/or Electrical work scopes.
• Monitor progress against the project schedule and report delays, constraints and recovery requirements to the Project Manager/Senior Project Engineer.
• Coordinate M&E activities with project teams, procurement, construction, QA/QC, safety, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Review drawings, shop drawings, specs and technical requirements for constructability and site execution.
• Prepare and coordinate method statements, shop drawings, installation/testing checklists and inspection requests.

Job description

To support the planning, coordination, technical execution and control of Mechanical and/or Electrical (M&E) engineering and construction projects. The Project Engineer ensures assigned work scopes are delivered safely on schedule and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality requirements, client requirements, company procedures and applicable Malaysian statutory and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

Develop and maintain detailed schedules, short-term look-ahead plans, resource requirements and progress tracking for assigned Mechanical and/or Electrical work scopes.

Monitor actual progress against the approved project schedule and promptly report delays, constraints and recovery requirements to the Project Manager / Senior Project Engineer.

Assist in coordinating manpower, materials, equipment and work fronts to achieve project milestones.

Coordinate Mechanical and Electrical engineering activities with project, design, procurement, construction, QA/QC, safety, suppliers and subcontractors.

Review contract drawings, shop drawings, specifications and technical requirements for constructability and site execution.

Raise and follow up RFIs, technical clarifications, material submissions and engineering queries.

Ensure only current approved drawings, specifications and documents are used for construction.

Prepare and coordinate method statements, shop drawings, installation/testing checklists, inspection requests and progress reports.

Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, workmanship and compliance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.

Coordinate inspection and testing activities in accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and QA/QC procedures.

About you

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent (preferred)

Relevant M&E / construction project experience; less than 5 years may be considered based on competency and project requirements

Knowledge of Mechanical/ACMV and/or Electrical engineering; project coordination; drawings/specifications; method statements; site supervision; QA/QC; safety; technical submissions; testing and commissioning

Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint; MS Project and AutoCAD/viewing tools or other relevant engineering/project software are advantageous

English and Bahasa Malaysia fluency; Mandarin or other languages are an advantage where required for project/business communication

Able and willing to travel and work at project sites within Malaysia and overseas when required

Valid driving licence and own transport may be required depending on project/site assignment
