Job summary

Arkitek FAA Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Project Architect to lead architectural design from concept to completion, coordinating with clients, consultants, and main contractors to ensure project success.

The role requires 5–7 years of relevant experience, strong knowledge of UBBL and local authority submissions, and proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Enscape/V-Ray. Must be a proactive leader and mentor for the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Architecture as recognized by Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM).
• 5–7 years of experience as Project Architect or Senior Architectural Assistant on building projects.
• Strong knowledge of UBBL, municipal guidelines and authority submission procedures in Malaysia.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), SketchUp, Enscape/V-Ray and MS Office.
• Experience in consultant coordination, contract administration and site management.
• Excellent problem solving, communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Project Leadership: lead the architectural design lifecycle from schematic to delivery.
• Technical Documentation & Detailing: produce and review construction drawings and specs using BIM/AutoCAD.
• Local Authority Submissions: ensure compliance with UBBL, BOMBA and local guidelines for clearances.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: liaise with clients, consultants, and main contractors.
• Project Delivery Management: monitor progress against schedules and budgets.
• Site Supervision & Quality Assurance: conduct site visits, manage RFIs and AI releases.
• Team Leadership & Mentorship: guide junior staff in standards and regulatory execution.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• 1) End-to-End Project Leadership: Spearhead the architectural design lifecycle from schematic layout generation and design development through to final project delivery.

• 2) Technical Documentation & Detailing: Produce and review detailed construction drawings, architectural specifications, material selections, and tender packages using BIM/AutoCAD platforms.

• 3) Local Authority Submissions: Ensure design schemes strictly comply with the Uniform Building By-Laws (UBBL), BOMBA fire safety regulations, and local council (PBT) guidelines to facilitate smooth building plan clearances.

• 4) Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as the primary liaison between clients, external consultants (C&S, M&E, QS), and main contractors to address technical discrepancies and prevent on-site design clashes.

• 5) Project Delivery Management: Oversee project progress against established schedules, milestones, and client budget allocations.

• 6) Site Supervision & Quality Assurance: Conduct regular site visits to audit construction quality, clarify Requests for Information (RFIs), issue Architect’s Instructions (AI), and ensure works align with approved plans.

• 7) Team Leadership & Mentorship: Guide and support junior architects and draughtspersons in drawing standards, regulatory requirements, and technical execution.

• 8) Practice Growth: Contribute to the continuous improvement of workflows and technical standards.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Architecture or equivalent (recognized by Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia - LAM).

• Minimum 5 - 7 years of working experience as a Project Architect or Senior Architectural Assistant in building construction projects.

• Strong working knowledge of local building codes (UBBL), municipal guidelines, and authority submission procedures in Malaysia.

• Proficient in software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), SketchUp, Enscape/V-Ray, and MS Office.

• Solid experience in consultant coordination, contract administration, and site management.

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
