Job summary

POLYMER LINK SDN. BHD. in Malaysia is seeking a Production Shift Supervisor to lead the day or night shift on the production floor.

You will supervise production activities, ensure schedules are followed, and monitor output, quality, and safety while coordinating with maintenance and QA teams. The role requires a Diploma or equivalent technical qualification, 3–5 years of manufacturing experience, and hands-on leadership on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent technical qualification required.

• Knowledge of plastics/polymer processing preferred.
• Able to communicate in Bahasa Malaysia; basic English.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all production activities during the assigned shift.
• Ensure adherence to production schedule, SOPs, work instructions and specifications.
• Monitor production output, throughput, productivity, scrap, rework and First Pass Yield.
• Detect and contain abnormalities; escalate to management when needed.
• Coordinate with Quality Control, Maintenance, Planning, Warehouse and Safety.
• Prepare accurate shift production reports and handover between Day/Night shifts.

2 Positions (Day & Night Shift Rotation)

Proposed Working Arrangement

Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Working Days: Monday – Saturday

Weekly Rest Day: Sunday

Based on the current working arrangement, the applicable overtime is approximately 3.5 hours per working day from Monday to Saturday, subject to the Company’s approved overtime arrangement, payroll calculation and applicable employment requirements.

The Night Shift Supervisor will also be entitled to the applicable night shift allowance according to Company policy.

Basic Salary: RM2,500 – RM2,800 per month

Basic Salary + OT + Night Shift Allowance where applicable.

Candidates should possess at least:

• Diploma or equivalent technical qualification
• Preferably in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer/Plastics Technology, Industrial Engineering, Production Management or other related technical disciplines.

Preferred Experience :

We prioritize candidates with hands‑on manufacturing and shop‑floor experience.

Preferred profile:

• Approximately 3–5 years of manufacturing experience.
• Previous experience as Production Supervisor, Team Leader, Line Leader, Senior Technician or similar shop‑floor leadership position would be an advantage.
• Experience in plastics, polymer compounding, extrusion, twin‑screw extrusion, grinding, pulverizing, recycling or process manufacturing would be preferred. Most importantly, the candidate should be comfortable working directly on the production floor and should not have only administrative or reporting experience.

The candidate should preferably demonstrate:

• Strong hands‑on shop‑floor leadership.
• Ability to supervise and manage production operators/workers.
• Ability to independently manage the assigned shift.
• Understanding of production processes and process parameters.
• Basic machine and process troubleshooting capability.
• Ability to identify abnormalities and take immediate containment or escalation action.
• Understanding of production output, throughput and productivity.
• Awareness of First Pass Yield and in‑process quality requirements.
• Scrap, rejection and downtime control.
• Good manpower allocation and discipline management.
• Proper shift handover and production reporting.
• Good safety awareness and work discipline.
• Ability to coordinate with Quality Control, Maintenance, Planning, Warehouse and Safety.
• Good accountability, communication and sense of urgency.
• Basic Microsoft Excel and production reporting knowledge.
• Ability to communicate in Bahasa Malaysia and basic English.
• Willingness to work either Day or Night Shift based on operational requirements.

Key Job Responsibilities

The Production Shift Supervisor will be responsible for:

1. Supervising and coordinating all production activities and manpower during the assigned shift.
2. Ensuring production follows the approved production schedule, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, product specifications and process parameters.
3. Monitoring:
   • Production output
   • Throughput
   • Productivity
   • Scrap
   • Rework
   • First Pass Yield
4. Ensuring early detection, containment and escalation of production and quality abnormalities.
5. Coordinating with Quality Control for in‑process inspection and verification.
6. Ensuring production does not continue unnecessarily where significant quality or process abnormalities have been identified.
7. Ensuring the correct:
   • Material
   • Job number
   • Formulation
   • Machine
   • Process setting
8. Monitoring machine conditions and coordinating with Maintenance during breakdowns or equipment abnormalities.
9. Ensuring compliance with safety requirements, Personal Protective Equipment, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions and housekeeping requirements.
10. Managing operator attendance, punctuality, discipline, manpower allocation and work performance.
11. Ensuring proper Day-to-Night and Night-to-Day shift handover.
12. Preparing accurate shift production reports and escalating significant issues to Production Management.
