Job summary

Karex Berhad is seeking a Production Manager (Senior & Assistant Manager available) to join their Pontian, Malaysia operations. This role leads daily production, drives continuous improvement, and partners with senior leadership to elevate operational performance on a growing manufacturing site.

You will oversee a large team, manage production schedules, ensure SOPs, uphold safety and environmental compliance, and mentor the team.

Qualifications

• Diploma preferred in Engineering/Manufacturing/Industrial Management.
• 2–8 years in production, manufacturing, or operations management in a medium to large-scale organisation.
• Exposure to ERP systems, production management software, or MES.
• Solid understanding of OHSMS and EMS systems, quality management tools, and KPIs.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to manage 100+ staff.
• Excellent organisational, planning, and multitasking capabilities.
• Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
• Proficiency in English and Malay (Mandarin an advantage).

What you’ll be doing?

• Overseeing daily production operations – Take charge of the day-to-day running of the production floor, ensuring operations remain efficient, effective, and aligned with quality standards.
• Managing production personnel – Guide and support the production team to maintain smooth business operations and consistently high‑quality outputs.
• Planning production schedules – Develop and manage workload schedules that meet both internal targets and external delivery commitments.
• Upholding SOPs and best practices – Ensure production personnel consistently follow standard operating procedures and quality guidelines.
• Managing equipment and work environment – Maintain a safe, efficient, and high‑quality production environment through proper equipment management.
• Driving problem‑solving and improvement – Lead troubleshooting efforts and strategic initiatives to reduce quality issues and boost operational efficiency.
• Managing production planning – Ensure product realisation aligns with sales demand through effective planning.
• Championing OHS and environmental compliance – Establish, implement, and embed OHS and environmental policies into everyday business processes.

Who are they looking for?

• Educational background – A Diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Relevant experience – Around 2 to 8 years of experience in production, manufacturing, or operations management, within a medium to large‑scale organisation.
• Systems familiarity – Exposure to ERP systems, production management software, or manufacturing execution systems is required.
• Technical knowledge – Must have solid understanding of OHSMS and EMS systems, quality management tools, and production KPIs.
• Leadership strengths – Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities, with the confidence to strictly manage a sizeable team of more than 100 staff.
• Organisational skills – Excellent organisational, planning, and multitasking capabilities to juggle competing priorities.
• Improvement mindset – An analytical approach with a genuine focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
• Language skills – Proficiency in English and Malay is required for daily communication; Mandarin proficiency is an advantage as it may support engagement with certain business contacts and industry counterparts.
