Job summary

Pacific Quartz (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. is establishing its new plant in Kulim and seeks an SHE Specialist to design and implement the safety, health and environmental programme from the ground up.

You will manage plant safety, health and environmental matters, conduct hazard assessments, organize training and drills, and ensure compliance with OSHA Malaysia, FMA 1967 and Environmental Quality Act 1974.

Qualifications

• Hands-on SHE experience in manufacturing.
• Experience with hazard inspections and risk assessments.
• Knowledge of OSHA Malaysia, FMA 1967 and Environmental Quality Act 1974.
• Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English; Mandarin is an advantage.
• Penang/Kedah compliance knowledge is an advantage.
• SHO/DOSH-registered competency is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Manage plant safety, occupational health and environmental matters in line with OSHA Malaysia and local environmental regulations.
• Carry out hazard inspections, risk assessments (HIRARC) and safety controls for work activities.
• Organise safety training and emergency drills, and drive 5S and safety improvements on the shop floor.
• Investigate and report workplace accidents, and follow corrective actions through to closure.
• Keep SHE records, registers and documents up to date.
• Act as the main contact with government agencies such as DOSH (JKKP) and DOE (JAS), and handle official inspections and enquiries.
• Work with Production and Engineering on safety improvements, and identify risks from chemicals, special equipment and other on-site hazards.
• Report SHE matters to China headquarters as required.

Pacific Quartz (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. is the Malaysian branch of Jiangsu Pacific Quartz Co., Ltd., a high-purity quartz manufacturer from China. We are setting up our new plant in Kulim and are looking for an SHE Specialist to build and run our safety, health and environmental programme from the start.

Key Responsibilities

Manage plant safety, occupational health and environmental matters in line with OSHA Malaysia and local environmental regulations

Carry out hazard inspections, risk assessments (HIRARC) and safety controls for work activities

Organise safety training and emergency drills, and drive 5S and safety improvements on the shop floor

Requirements

Diploma or degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field

Hands-on SHE experience in manufacturing, preferably at a foreign-invested plant

Good knowledge of OSHA 1994 (including the 2022 amendment), FMA 1967 and the Environmental Quality Act 1974

Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English

Mandarin is an advantage (to communicate with China HQ and expatriate staff)

Familiar with factory compliance requirements in Penang or Kedah is an advantage

SHO / DOSH-registered competency is an advantage
