Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Procurement Protege Trainee in Kuala-Lumpur to support the APAC supplier review and onboarding processes. You will help review supplier data, collaborate with Category Buyers and suppliers, and maintain information in our e-portal.

The role requires a degree in Procurement or Supply Chain Management and Mandarin proficiency to liaise with Taiwan/China stakeholders, along with strong MS Office skills including SharePoint, SAP ByDesign, Excel and PowerPoint.

Procurement Protege Trainee (Ref. No. R1013105) at our location in Kuala-Lumpur

• As a Protege in the Procurement department, you will be supporting the Category Buyer team in supplier review and supplier onboarding for the APAC Region.
• Review the supplier database and cross check the completeness of supplier information with respect to the compliances set by the group.
• Work with Category buyers in the region as well as suppliers to collate and upkeep supplier information in our e-portal.
• Help review mapping of applicable framework agreements and suggest its viability in APAC region.
• Track and share the local framework and local agreement validity.
• Quotation Catalogue management on cloud server.
• Consolidate pricelist with suppliers based on Category Manager inputs.
• Organize and maintain supplier data in procurement tools.
• Other ad-hoc support needed by the category and process & tool team to improve overall efficiency.

You have:

• Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Procurement or Supply Chain Management.
• Mandarin proficiency required to support stakeholders based in Taiwan/China.
• Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good multitasking and organizational skills.
• Independent, proactive and self-motivated.
• Strong MS Office skills, for example, the proficient knowledge of Sharepoint, SAP By design, Excel and PowerPoint will be necessary throughout this role.
• The ability to manage shareholders and build strong relationships.
• The skills to grasp complex technical concepts quickly, including process flows and policies.
• The ability to collate information and produce comprehensive reports.
• An eye for detail and the ability to analyse problems and develop practical solutions.
• The skills to plan and organise workload and work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
