Job summary

Synergy Staffing is seeking an experienced procurement professional to oversee sourcing, supplier negotiations, and performance evaluation in a manufacturing setting. The role emphasizes cost control, supplier collaboration, and ensuring quality across incoming goods.

The candidate should bring 3–5 years in procurement, strong analytical skills, and the ability to build long-term supplier relationships while maintaining high ethical standards. This is an on-site role in Shah Alam, Malaysia.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in procurement, purchasing, or sourcing roles, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective negotiation strategies to secure favourable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to evaluate supplier performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and manage inventory levels effectively.
  • Strong capabilities in building and maintaining positive, long-term relationships with a diverse range of suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct in all procurement activities and dealings with vendors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Mandarin, and Bahasa Malaysia to effectively interact with local and international suppliers and team members.
  • Ability to meticulously inspect goods and identify physical defects, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Assertive and effective in addressing quality issues and performance concerns with vendors, driving for timely resolution.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm and find effective solutions under pressure and during challenging negotiations or supply disruptions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the sourcing and procurement of goods and services, ensuring alignment with company quality standards and budget constraints.
  • Support the negotiation process with suppliers to achieve favourable pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential new suppliers and evaluate existing ones based on performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Process purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete.
  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with relevant departments to forecast demand and prevent stockouts or overstocking.
  • Inspect incoming goods for physical defects and ensure they meet specified quality requirements, escalating any discrepancies to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors, acting as a primary point of contact for inquiries, order status, and issue resolution.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of procurement strategies to optimise cost savings and improve supply chain efficiency.
  • Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost savings achieved.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of procurement processes and systems.
