The Procurement & Halal Executive is responsible for managing the Company's procurement activities while ensuring that all purchased raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials, suppliers, and related procurement processes comply with the Company's Halal requirements, quality standards, and applicable Malaysian regulations. The position will work closely with Production, Warehouse, Quality, R&D, Finance, and Management to ensure timely procurement, proper supplier management, cost effectiveness, and continuous Halal compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the purchasing process for raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials, consumables, equipment, and other operational requirements
- Source and evaluate suitable suppliers based on price, quality, availability, delivery performance, reliability, and compliance requirements
- Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers and prepare purchasing recommendations for Management approval
- Issue Purchase Orders (PO) and ensure purchases are made according to approved specifications and requirements
- Monitor supplier delivery schedules and follow up on outstanding orders to ensure timely delivery
- Maintain proper procurement records, including quotations, Purchase Orders, invoices, delivery orders, and supplier documents
- Monitor purchasing costs and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or compliance
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, lead times, minimum order quantities, and other commercial terms with suppliers when required
- Ensure all raw materials, ingredients, processing aids, packaging materials, and other relevant purchased items meet the Company's Halal requirements
- Verify and maintain valid Halal certificates and supporting documents from suppliers
About you
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Halal Management, Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Procurement, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Halal Compliance, Food Manufacturing, or a related industry
- Experience in food manufacturing and Halal certification requirements will be an advantage
- Knowledge of Malaysian Halal requirements and documentation is preferred
- Good negotiation, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of supplier management and procurement processes
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken
- Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks within deadlines
- Strong attention to detail, especially in documentation and compliance matters
