Berjaya Corporation seeks a Process Quality Engineer based in Johor Bahru to lead process auditing, quality control, and support for new vehicle launches. You will ensure compliance with work instructions, quality standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications across the General Assembly shop.
You will analyze quality data, manage deviations, and drive corrective actions using structured problem-solving tools.
Responsible for process auditing, quality control, and new project support within the General Assembly shop. The role ensures production processes comply with work instructions, quality standards, safety requirements, customer specifications, and applicable automotive quality systems while supporting new model launches and continuous vehicle quality improvement.
Responsibilities:
Conduct daily process audits to ensure compliance with process documents, work instructions, quality standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications.
Support new project introduction, including process and equipment planning, quality reviews, trial production, pilot builds, launch readiness, and SOP ramp-up.
Follow up customer engineering, process, and quality requirement changes and ensure proper implementation on the production line.
Identify process deviations and quality risks, and drive containment, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and closure verification.
Analyse internal quality data, audit findings, production defects, customer feedback, and warranty/field issues to identify improvement opportunities.
Apply problem-solving tools including 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, PDCA, and Pareto analysis.
Train production teams on process standards, quality control points, critical characteristics, and customer-specific requirements.
Monitor high-risk processes and special characteristics, ensuring timely escalation and corrective action.
Support vehicle quality improvement, including EOL issues, water leaks, abnormal noise, electrical functions, fit and finish, appearance, and road-test concerns.
Ensure process and quality activities comply with company, customer, and automotive quality system requirements.
Requirements:
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years' experience in automotive manufacturing, preferably in General Assembly, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Quality, or Launch Quality.
Good knowledge of automotive assembly processes, process control, quality inspection, and production problem-solving.
Experience supporting new model launches, trial production, launch readiness, and SOP ramp-up.
Familiar with 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, PDCA, Pareto, and basic quality data analysis.
Strong communication and coordination skills with Production, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Logistics, and customer teams.
Able to work under pressure during project launches, ramp-up, and production issue resolution.
Preffered Qualifications:
Experience in new model launch or project introduction within an automotive OEM or contract manufacturing environment.
Experience with Chinese automotive OEM customer requirements is an advantage.
Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, or other automotive quality system requirements.
Hands-on experience in General Assembly process and vehicle quality improvement is preferred.
