Job summary

SCHOTT Glass (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Process/Cleaning Engineer in Kulim, Malaysia to oversee cleaning of optical glass components and to drive process development and optimization. The role focuses on improving existing processes and implementing new production concepts, coordinating tests and commissioning new lines with the technical team.

You will lead process optimization, collaborate with engineering, and ensure cost-effective, high-quality production.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 5 years related experience in cleaning/production.
• Experience with ultrasonic cleaning machinery operations.
• Extensive knowledge of glass materials and cleaning recipes.
• Project Management (Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma).
• Strong statistical analysis ability.
• Quality Assurance techniques.
• Analytical and problem solving ability.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop processes and production concepts for improving existing processes or new products.
• Execute process and production line optimization.
• Prepare requirements and performance specs for machines for new products.
• Prepare cost and time schedules and monitor compliance.
• Identify production processes and capacities; set technical requirements for lines.
• Prepare concepts and implement with the technical team.
• Support development in sizing new products and processes for optimized serial production.
• Plan, coordinate and control production tests and commissioning of lines and processes.
• Prepare engineering data files such as manufacturing instructions and process plans.
• Participate in supplier negotiations and evaluate external service providers.

Job description

Overall responsible for the cleaning of glass optical components and immediate products, including process development, process improvement and optimization.

Key responsibilities

• Develop process and production concepts for improvement of existing processes, implementation of new processes or new products
• Execute process and production line optimization
• Prepare requirement and performance specifications for machines and devices for production of new products
• Prepare cost and time schedules and monitor their compliance
• Identify necessary production processes and capacities and agree upon technical requirements for production lines
• Prepare concepts and implement these together with technical team
• Support development department in dimensioning of new products and production processes to ensure optimized serial production
• Plan, coordinate and control production tests and putting into service of new production lines and processes
• Prepare engineering data files such as manufacturing instructions, manuals, and process plans
• Participate in purchasing negotiations with suppliers and evaluate external service provider performance

About you

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (preferably Chemical – Cleaning Engineer)
• 5 years related experience
