Job summary

Job Search Asia in Malaysia is seeking a seasoned professional for plastic injection molding manufacturing. The role focuses on process development, optimization, NPI, and continuous improvement to deliver high-quality automotive-grade products.

You will lead technical development, analyze data, implement Lean Six Sigma projects, and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Maintenance, and QA. Strong knowledge of APQP/PPAP and IATF 16949 is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum education in engineering related to plastics and manufacturing.
• 2–3 years of experience in plastic injection molding manufacturing.
• Experience in automotive manufacturing is highly preferred.
• Experience with automotive customer requirements and quality systems is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop, establish, validate, and optimize manufacturing processes for plastic injection molding operations.
• Conduct process studies and establish machine parameters to achieve quality targets.
• Monitor process performance via statistical analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot molding defects and improve cycle time, utilization, and OEE.
• Provide technical support to production teams and collaborate with maintenance.
• Participate in APQP/PPAP activities and production validation.
• Lead Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma projects and drive cost reductions.
• Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and internal quality standards.

Job description

Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in plastic injection molding manufacturing.

• Experience in automotive manufacturing is highly preferred.
• Experience with automotive customer requirements and quality systems is an advantage.

Technical Skills

• Understanding of polymer materials and material behavior.

• Knowledge of mold design principles and tooling.

Education

Responsibility

Process Development & Optimization

Develop, establish, validate, and optimize manufacturing processes for plastic injection molding operations.

• Conduct process studies and establish optimum machine parameters to achieve product quality and production targets.
• Monitor process performance through statistical analysis and implement corrective actions when required.

Troubleshoot molding defects such as:

• o Short shots
• o Flash
• o Sink marks
• o Warpage
• o Burn marks
• o Weld lines
• o Color variation

Improve cycle time, machine utilization, yield, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

Production Support

Provide technical support to production teams to ensure stable and efficient manufacturing operations.

Investigate process-related quality issues and implement preventive and corrective actions.

Work closely with Production Supervisors and Maintenance teams to minimize downtime.

Support shift teams in resolving manufacturing and process challenges.

New Product Introduction (NPI)

Participate in APQP activities for new product development.

Conduct process trials, mold trials, and production validation activities.

Prepare process documentation including:

• o Process Flow Charts
• o PFMEA
• o Control Plans
• o Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• o Work Instructions

Support PPAP submission requirements.

Continuous Improvement

Lead and participate in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and cost reduction projects.

Analyze production data and identify opportunities for process improvement.

Implement automation and productivity enhancement initiatives where applicable.

Drive continuous improvement projects to reduce scrap, rework, and manufacturing costs.

Quality & Compliance

Ensure manufacturing processes comply with:

• o IATF 16949
• o ISO 9001
• o Customer-specific requirements
• o Internal quality standards

Support internal, customer, and certification audits.

Perform root cause analysis using methodologies such as:

• o 8D
• o 5 Why
• o Fishbone Diagram
• o FMEA

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain and update process parameters and technical documentation.

Generate reports on process performance, scrap rates, downtime, and improvement activities.

Ensure proper document control and engineering change management.

Safety & Environmental

Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with Occupational Safety and Health requirements.

Promote safe working practices within the production area.

Support environmental and sustainability initiatives.
