Job summary

Aurora Talent seeks an experienced Process Engineer to support design and engineering across Oil & Gas, Petrochemical and Refinery projects in Malaysia. You will perform process design, calculations, simulations and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires hands-on experience with PFDs, P&IDs, equipment data sheets and process specs, plus familiarity with Aspen HYSYS or PRO/II. Greenfield/Brownfield exposure is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5–8 years of Process Engineering/Design experience in O&G, Petrochemical or Refinery projects.
• Experience with Greenfield, Brownfield and plant modification/upgrade projects.
• Strong knowledge of PFDs, P&IDs, equipment data sheets, process calculations and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

• Support tender and ITB activities by reviewing client requirements and preparing technical clarifications.
• Establish Process Design Basis and Design Criteria in line with project requirements and standards.
• Produce, review and maintain key deliverables: Heat & Material Balance, PFDs, P&IDs, data sheets and specs.
• Perform process and utility calculations, hydraulic sizing and PSV/relief system calculations.
• Coordinate with Mechanical, Piping, Instrumentation & Control, Electrical, and Operations teams for integration.
• Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, SIL and other safety reviews and capture actions.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Process Engineer to support the engineering and design of projects within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical and Refinery sectors.

The successful candidate will be involved in process design, engineering calculations, process simulation, technical documentation and multidisciplinary coordination throughout various stages of project execution. Exposure to Greenfield, Brownfield and plant modification projects would be highly valuable.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Approximately 5–8 years of Process Engineering / Process Design experience, preferably within an engineering consultancy or EPCC environment supporting Oil & Gas, Petrochemical and/or Refinery projects.
• Experience supporting Greenfield, Brownfield and plant modification/upgrade projects is preferred.
• Strong understanding of Process Engineering documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, equipment data sheets, process calculations and technical specifications.
• Hands‑on experience with process simulation tools such as Aspen HYSYS and/or PRO/II.
• Exposure to FLARENET, FLARESIM, heat exchanger sizing/rating tools or similar Process Engineering software would be advantageous.
• Practical experience performing process simulations, hydraulic and line sizing calculations, PSV/relief system calculations, control valve sizing and equipment sizing.
• Experience conducting Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), reviewing vendor documentation and handling technical clarifications with suppliers.
• Previous involvement in proposal development, tendering and ITB activities is preferred.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and SmartPlant P&ID (SPPID) would be beneficial.
• Exposure to pre‑commissioning, commissioning and start‑up activities would be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Support tender and ITB activities by reviewing client requirements, identifying technical requirements and preparing necessary technical clarifications and documentation.
• Establish and develop the Process Design Basis and Design Criteria in accordance with project requirements, engineering standards and client specifications.
• Produce, review and maintain key Process Engineering deliverables, including:
• Heat & Material Balance (H&MB)
• Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
• Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
• Process Design Basis and Design Criteria
• Equipment data sheets and technical specifications
• Process and utility calculations
• Hydraulic and line sizing calculations
• PSV and relief system calculations
• Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, SIL and other technical/process safety reviews, ensuring agreed actions are incorporated into the engineering design.
• Work closely with Mechanical, Piping, Instrumentation & Control, Electrical, Civil/Structural and Operations teams to ensure proper integration of the overall design.
• Coordinate technical matters with clients, technology licensors, equipment vendors and third‑party consultants.
