DHL IT Services in Malaysia is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the design, development, deployment of enterprise applications using Java, React, JasperReports, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and modern cloud-native technologies. You will work across the full SDLC to deliver scalable, secure solutions.

As a Principal Software Engineer, you are responsible for the design, development, enhancement, deployment, and support of enterprise applications using Java, React, JasperReports, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and modern cloud-native technologies. You work across the full software development lifecycle, delivering scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions that meet business and operational requirements.

In this role, you develop and maintain backend services, APIs, and web applications while ensuring application reliability, performance, scalability, and security. You design and implement microservices using Java and modern frameworks, develop responsive front-end applications with ReactJS and TypeScript, and build integration solutions utilizing REST, SOAP, and gRPC technologies.

You design and manage relational database solutions using PostgreSQL and Oracle, including schema design, data modeling, indexing strategies, migration activities, and performance optimization. You also contribute to enterprise integration initiatives by developing scalable interfaces and supporting data exchange across internal and external platforms.

You work extensively with modern DevOps and cloud-native practices, including containerization, CI/CD automation, infrastructure deployment, observability, and operational excellence. You support deployment and release activities while promoting automation, engineering standards, and continuous improvement across the development lifecycle.

You collaborate closely with business stakeholders, solution architects, project managers, product owners, and globally distributed teams to deliver new capabilities, operational improvements, and technology modernization initiatives. You actively participate in technical design discussions, architecture reviews, code reviews, and problem‑solving activities to ensure successful project delivery.

As a senior member of the engineering organization, you provide technical leadership and mentoring to development teams, establish engineering best practices, guide technical decision‑making, and help build sustainable internal expertise. Your expertise contributes to the successful delivery, operation, and continuous evolution of enterprise solutions supporting business growth and digital transformation.

As a Principal Software Engineer, having strong experience in Java, React, JasperReports, Oracle Database, and PostgreSQL is a huge plus. Deep expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise applications and reporting solutions will be an integral part of this role.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• More than 12 years of professional software engineering and solution delivery experience.
• Strong full‑stack development expertise across backend and frontend technologies.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise applications using Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and microservices architectures.
• Hands‑on experience developing responsive web applications using ReactJS, TypeScript, and modern web technologies.
• Experience developing backend services and APIs using Java, with exposure to Node.js and Golang being a plus.

• Strong knowledge of JasperReports for report design, development, and maintenance.

• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and Oracle Database, including SQL development, database design, indexing, migration activities, and performance tuning.
• Good understanding of relational database concepts, data modeling, and data integration patterns.
• Experience designing and implementing REST APIs, SOAP services, gRPC interfaces, and enterprise integration solutions.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, distributed systems, and scalable enterprise solutions.
• Experience managing source code and collaboration using GitHub and modern version control practices.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, including automated testing, quality controls, and deployment automation.
• Experience working with container technologies and deploying workloads on OpenShift and cloud platforms.
• Good knowledge of cloud services and application operations on Azure, including container registries, secrets management, monitoring, IAM, and load balancing.
• Experience implementing observability practices using metrics, centralized logging, distributed tracing, and monitoring platforms.
• Knowledge of secure software development practices, application security, secrets management, compliance requirements, and container security.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery teams using Jira for sprint planning, tracking, collaboration, and delivery management.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in global, cross‑functional, and multicultural environments.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers, establish technical standards, and drive engineering excellence across teams.
