Job summary

Private Advertiser is seeking a Plant Manager to orchestrate manufacturing operations including Production, Maintenance, Warehouse, Safety and Continuous Improvement. Lead a culture of teamwork, ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective production while meeting quality and regulatory standards.

The role requires a technical degree, 4+ years in a plant/operations leadership position, and strong English, Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Food Science, or technical field (Master's preferred).
• Minimum 4 years' experience as Plant/Operations Manager or similar role.
• Proficient in Mandarin, English, and Bahasa Malaysia for diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with participative leadership.
• Solid maintenance, equipment troubleshooting and project management background.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities at strategic and operational levels.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office for data analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage manpower, materials and plant resources for smooth operations.
• Oversee daily production and maintenance activities and coordinate maintenance plans.
• Provide leadership and technical direction to staff, fostering teamwork and professionalism.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, records and audit trails.
• Identify and implement improvements to meet department targets and performance goals.
• Develop and manage operational budget and control costs.
• Implement, monitor and review the plant health and safety plan, and ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, FSSC 22000, Halal where relevant.
• Conduct performance appraisals and talent assessments across departments.

Job description

The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall management of manufacturing operations, covering Production, Maintenance, Warehouse, Safety and Continuous Improvement. The role ensures the plant operates safely, efficiently and cost-effectively while meeting production targets, quality standards, customer requirements and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and manage manpower, materials, and plant resources to ensure smooth operations.
• Oversee daily production and maintenance activities, including coordinating work plans for routine and specialised maintenance.
• Provide leadership and technical direction to department staff, Build a culture of mutual respect, teamwork, and professionalism aligned with company values.
• Develop, implement and maintain plant documentation - standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, maintenance records and production logs, and ensure records are kept complete, current and audit-ready.
• Identify and implement improvements to work methods to strengthen operational performance and meet department targets.
• Develop and manage the operational budget and control costs to avoid overruns.
• Implement, monitor and review the plant's health and safety plan, and introduce new procedures where needed.
• Uphold compliance with applicable food safety, quality and regulatory standards, including GMP, HACCP, FSSC 22000, and Halal certification requirements.
• Conduct performance appraisals and talent assessments across assigned departments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Food Science, or a technical field (Master's preferred).
• Minimum 4 years' experience as a Plant Manager, Operations Manager or in a similar role. Experience in food or FMCG manufacturing is an advantage.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin, English, and Bahasa Malaysia to effectively communicate with our diverse client base and stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with a participative management style that promotes teamwork and effective collaboration.
• Solid technical background in maintenance, equipment troubleshooting and project management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills at both strategic and operational levels.
• Computer literate, able to work with Microsoft applications for data analysis, record maintenance, and reporting.
