Job summary
Truwater Cooling Towers Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian manufacturer with over 35 years of expertise in wet and hybrid cooling towers, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team in Shah Alam. The role focuses on scheduled maintenance, fault diagnosis, and safe equipment repair across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
You will inspect gear and plant equipment, lubricate parts, coordinate servicing, and follow LOTO procedures with proper PPE to ensure safe operations.
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of relevant working experience in plant maintenance, machinery maintenance, or industrial equipment repair.
- Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or related technical field.
- Hands-on experience in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment repair.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Able to identify equipment faults and perform maintenance safely.
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and maintenance documentation.
- Responsible, practical, and able to work independently as well as in a team.
Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled maintenance on machinery and plant equipment.
- Inspect equipment for wear, damage, leaks, abnormal noise, and vibration.
- Lubricate moving parts and replace worn components.
- Follow preventive maintenance schedules and checklists.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults within the technician's competency.
- Repair or replace defective components.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and restore operations safely.
- Identify recurring problems and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain assembly machines, motors, pumps, fans, conveyors.
- Inspect and maintain forklifts, hoists, cranes, and lifting equipment within authorized scope.
- Coordinate specialist servicing and statutory inspections where required.
- Inspect and maintain lighting, doors, drainage, and general plant infrastructure.
- Monitor compressed-air systems, water supply, ventilation, and other utilities.
- Repair minor facility defects and report major issues.
- Maintain workshop areas and ensure equipment is stored properly.
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures before working on hazardous equipment.
- Conduct work according to risk assessments, permits, and safe work procedures.
- Use appropriate PPE.
- Report unsafe conditions, equipment defects, and potential hazards.
- Perform electrical or lifting-equipment work only when properly trained, authorized, and qualified.
- Record maintenance activities, breakdown causes, and repair details.
- Update equipment maintenance checklists and service history.
- Monitor spare-part usage and report low-stock items.
- Assist in spare-parts inventory control and maintenance cost reduction.
- Assist external service providers during equipment servicing and repairs.
- Coordinate equipment servicing schedules with production and warehouse teams.
- Verify completed work and report outstanding defects to the Maintenance Supervisor.
