Job summary

ULTIMATE MANUFACTURING SOLUTIONS (M) SDN. BHD. in Penang, Malaysia seeks a Materials Planner to coordinate supplier deliveries and maintain minimum stock levels.

You will plan material movements, manage orders, and track BOM integrity to ensure uninterrupted production schedules. The role requires a Diploma/degree in inventory or manufacturing management with at least 5 years in high mix/low volume environments and solid Excel/MRP capability.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in inventory/manufacturing management or related field.
• At least 5 years proven experience in high mix/low volume environments.
• Strong understanding of material planning and organizational effectiveness.
• Experience in automotive or manufacturing environments is preferred.
• Solid knowledge of lean techniques is advantageous.
• Proficient with MRP systems or similar IT solutions.
• Ability to work under tight schedules and short lead times.

Responsibilities

• Schedule the supply of materials/components to meet production needs and safety stock levels.
• Plan, develop, implement and evaluate material delivery processes from supplier to fit point.
• Manage day-to-day orders and deliveries.
• Monitor BOM integrity and inventory accuracy.
• Generate supplier delivery schedules and forecasts aligned to demand.
• Create regular reports and analyses for the organization.
• Identify areas for continuous improvement and implement changes.

Job description

Schedule the supply of materials/components (OEM parts) to meet production requirements and minimum safety stock levels.

Plan, develop, implement and evaluate processes for material delivery from supplier to point of fit.

Assess volume requirements against planning assumptions.

Day-to-day order management and management of deliveries.

Understand and manage risks to minimize impact on production schedule.

Take follow up actions in relation to material shortages that affect production.

Implement all processes to agreed standards and targets and support continuous improvement initiatives and identify areas of improvement.

Utilize any Material Requirements Planning system (MRP) or IT system that is in place and ensure that data is accurate and up to date and resolve any issues as required.

Monitor the integrity of Bill of Materials (BOM) and manage inventory accuracy.

Monitor inventory levels against agreed target levels.

Support inventory checks to validate inventory accuracy.

Minimize obsolete stock and ensure business is left with minimum liability.

Generate and communicate supplier material delivery schedules and forecasts to ensure they reflect requirements and meet demands.

Create regular statistical reports and analysis and update others in the organization.

Any other duties assigned by immediate supervisor.

Requirements

Diploma or degree in inventory / manufacturing management or related field.

At least 5 proven work experience as in high mix low volume and low mix high volume.

Adequate knowledge of organizational effectiveness and material planning.

Previous experience of materials planning ideally in the automotive or manufacturing environment.

Good understanding of supply chain processes and their interdependence.

Understanding of supplier relationships and some experience of working with suppliers.

Strong IT systems knowledge and skills including advanced Excel skills.

Knowledge and experience of using MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems or similar.

Able to work under tight schedule / short lead time.

Knowledge of lean techniques may be advantageous.
