The Material Control Engineer is responsible for planning, monitoring, and controlling material flow to ensure the right materials are available at the right time to support production. This role works closely with Purchasing, Production Planning, Warehouse, Logistics, and Manufacturing teams to optimize inventory levels, minimize material shortages, and improve operational efficiency.
Plan and monitor material requirements based on production schedules and customer demand.
Ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and packaging materials for production.
Coordinate with Purchasing and suppliers to resolve material shortages and delivery issues.
Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimal stock to prevent overstocking or stock-outs.
Analyze material usage, inventory accuracy, and material movement to improve efficiency.
Review and update material planning parameters, including safety stock, reorder points, and lead times.
Collaborate with Production Planning to support production schedules and demand changes.
Conduct inventory reconciliation, cycle counts, and root cause analysis for inventory discrepancies.
Prepare material planning, inventory, and shortage reports for management review.
Support ERP/MRP transactions and ensure data accuracy within the system.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inventory control and material management processes.
Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and safety requirements.
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum 2-5 years of experience in material planning, inventory control, production planning, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good understanding of inventory management principles and production planning.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Able to work independently and in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma is an added advantage.
