Qualifications

  • Diploma in Pharmacy (UiTM or LAN-approved institution).
  • Minimum 2–3 years in a retail/hospital environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth running of the Pharmacy Department.
  • Adhere to Hospital Accreditation Standards, applicable laws, rules and regulations governing pharmacy services; maintain proper records.
  • Provide professional advice on drugs (chemical name, indication, dosage, side effects, precautions, interactions, storage).
  • Prepare labels and drugs according to prescriptions; enter charges into the system; counter-check prepared drugs; dispense drugs to patients/wards with instructions.
  • Maintain good inventory control (stock availability, par levels, expiry); ensure security and cleanliness of the department.
  • Assist in new services/programmes introduced by the department/hospital and perform duties as assigned by the Pharmacist or KPJ leaders.

  • A pharmacy assistantprovides administrative and operational support to pharmacists,to ensure the pharmacyfunctionsefficiently. This includeshandling tasks like managing inventory, processing prescriptions,measuringand packaging medications,extemporaneous preparations,dispensing medications,providing customerserviceandothers.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • To ensure smooth running of the Pharmacy Department.
  • To ensure all policies and procedures of Hospital Accreditation Standards, act, laws,rulesand regulation (governing the pharmacy services) are adhered to and proper recordsismaintained.
  • To ensure all policies and regulations of Occupational Safety and HealthAct (OSHA) 1994, are adhered to:
  • Responsible and accountable to carry out duties as an employee as stipulated in OSH Act and Regulations 1994.
  • To take reasonable care at work for the safety of yourself and other persons.
  • To cooperate with your employer or any other person in the discharge of any duty.
  • To wear or use any protective equipment or clothing.
  • Tocomply withany instruction or measure on occupational safety and health.
  • To give prompt, efficient,ethicaland professional services to internal/ external customers.
  • Toprovideprofessional advice to the prescribers, staffnursesand others (with regards to drugssuch as:chemical name,indication, dosage, side effects, special precaution, contraindication, drug interaction, storageetc).
  • To prepare label according to the prescription/ drug chart.
  • To prepare the drugs according to the prescription/ drug chart.
  • To key in the charges of the drugs into the system.
  • To counter check the prepared drugs.
  • To dispense/supply the drugs to the patient/ wards together with necessary instruction.
  • To compound lotion/ mixture and prepare dilution for stock and extemporaneous use.
  • To repack bulk drugs into suitable units for dispensing.
  • Tomaintaingood inventory control at alltime(such as stock availability, par level, short expiry).
  • To ensure security/ cleanliness of the department.
  • Toprepare statisticalreportasrequired,in a timely manner.
  • Toassistinanyjob relatedassignment.
  • To participateactively in any new service/programmesintroduced by the department/ hospital.
  • To perform anyduties asassigned by thePharmacist, ChiefPharmacist, KPJ Corporate Pharmacist, KPJHead of Pharmacy & Allied Health,or any officersdesignatedby the company.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Diploma in Pharmacy (UiTM or other Institution approved by LAN).

Knowledge and Experiences:

  • Minimum2-3years in retail/hospital environment.
  • Strongcommunicationand interpersonal skills.
  • Mathematical ability.
  • Teamwork and collaboration.
