Job summary

Pivotal Systems (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd in Kedah is seeking a hands-on SMT technician to set up, operate, calibrate, and maintain SMT line equipment and to program and debug SPI and AOI systems for defect-free assembly.

You will work with Juki and Panasonic machines, monitor process parameters, perform first-piece verifications, and contribute to reducing downtime while adhering to ESD and 5S standards.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on SMT manufacturing experience.
• Hands-on experience with SPI and AOI programming/inspection.
• Experience operating, setting up, or maintaining Juki and/or Panasonic pick-and-place machinery.
• Solid understanding of SMT process flow, stencil printing, and reflow dynamics.
• Knowledge of IPC-A-610 inspection standards and ESD compliance.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, calibrate, and perform preventive maintenance on SMT line equipment.
• Program, debug, and fine-tune SPI and AOI systems to ensure defect-free assembly and low false-call rates.
• Perform SMT line setup, changeovers, feeder loading, and first-piece verification.
• Monitor overall SMT process parameters, including stencil printing, squeegee pressure, solder paste handling, and reflow oven thermal profiling.
• Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshooting for component placement and solder defects (e.g., bridging, tombstoning, voiding, insufficient solder).
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to minimize machine downtime and maintain high yield rates.
• Adhere to ESD control guidelines, safety protocols, and 5S standards on the shop floor.
• Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the immediate superior from time to time.

Requirements:

Technical Diploma or Certificate in Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).

2+ years of hands-on experience in an SMT electronics manufacturing environment.

Hands-on experience with SPI and AOI programming/inspection.

Hands-on experience with Juki and Panasonic pick-and-place machines is a strong advantage.

Experience operating, setting up, or maintaining Juki and/or Panasonic pick-and-place machinery.

Solid understanding of SMT process flow, stencil printing, and reflow dynamics.

Knowledge of IPC-A-610 inspection standards and ESD compliance.

Good troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail, and willingness to work shifts as required.
