EPS Malaysia is seeking an SMT Production Engineer to manage and optimize SMT processes, ensuring production targets, quality and yield are met. You will program and optimize SMT equipment, monitor parameters and perform root-cause analysis on production issues.

Manage and optimize SMT production processes to achieve production, quality, yield and efficiency targets.
Set up, program and optimize SMT equipment including solder paste printer, SPI, pick-and-place machine, reflow oven and AOI.
Monitor SMT process parameters and perform process troubleshooting and root cause analysis for production issues.
Analyze defects such as solder bridging, insufficient solder, solder balls, tombstoning, component misalignment and open/short defects.
Optimize solder paste printing, placement accuracy and reflow profiles to improve product quality.
Monitor and improve SMT yield, OEE, cycle time, machine utilization and process capability.
Conduct preventive maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of SMT equipment in collaboration with the maintenance team.
Support New Product Introduction (NPI), line setup, process validation and transfer of new products into mass production.
Develop and maintain SMT programs, machine settings, process specifications and work instructions.
Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance and NPI teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
Conduct DOE, continuous improvement and cost-reduction activities to improve manufacturing efficiency.
Perform failure analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for recurring SMT defects.
Ensure SMT processes comply with relevant quality, ESD, safety and manufacturing requirements.
Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, process reports and improvement records.
Train technicians and production operators on SMT processes and equipment where required.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
2–5 years of experience in SMT/electronics manufacturing is preferred.
Strong hands‑on knowledge of SMT processes and PCB assembly.
Experience with SPI, AOI, pick-and-place, solder paste printer and reflow oven.
Knowledge of SMT programming, reflow profiling and process optimization.
Good understanding of PCB assembly defects and troubleshooting techniques.
Experience in root cause analysis, SPC, DOE and continuous improvement is an advantage.
Knowledge of IPC standards, ESD control and quality systems is preferred.
Good analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
Able to work closely with cross-functional teams and support production requirements.
