DHL Global Forwarding in USJ, Selangor seeks an Ocean Freight Operational Accounting Specialist to strengthen financial controls for the Ocean Freight segment. The role emphasizes accurate file closing, KPI monitoring, and collaboration with Operations and Finance to drive process excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Finance, Accounting or Business Studies with logistics/minor.
• Minimum 2 years in Freight Forwarding, Logistics, Operational Finance or related fields (Ocean Freight).
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliation and operational processes.
• Excellent time management and ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support accurate financial file closing and ensure compliance with financial control standards.
• Monitor KPIs: revenue leakage, unbilled files, billing timeliness, loss-making files and accrual performance.
• Identify root causes of operational accounting issues and drive improvements.
• Collaborate with Operations, Finance and stakeholders to analyze disputes.
• Monitor vendor cost controls and support actions to prevent gross profit leakage.
• Partner with country, regional and global teams to maximise file-level profitability.
• Maintain process documentation and ensure policy compliance.

Job description

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Ocean Freight Operational Accounting Specialist to support financial control processes within our Ocean Freight business. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial file closing, improving gross profit performance, monitoring operational accounting KPIs and partnering with Operations and Finance teams to drive process excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Support accurate financial file closing and ensure compliance with financial control standards.
• Monitor operational accounting KPIs, including revenue leakage, unbilled files, billing timeliness, loss-making files and accrual performance.
• Identify root causes of operational accounting issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Analyze and resolve customer and vendor disputes while collaborating with Operations, Finance and business stakeholders.
• Monitor vendor cost controls and support actions to prevent gross profit leakage.
• Partner with country, regional and global teams to maximize file-level profitability.
• Maintain process documentation and ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
• Support onboarding, knowledge sharing and training activities within the team.

To be successful in this position, we expect your qualification to have:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Logistics, Transportation, Finance, Accounting and/or Business Studies with minor in logistics and supply chain.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Freight Forwarding, Logistics, Operational Finance, Accounting, or related functions especially in Ocean Freight.
• Understanding of accounting principles, financial reconciliation and operational finance processes.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with transportation or freight forwarding systems (e.g., CargoWise One, CW1) is an advantage.
• This position is located in USJ, Selangor.
