Job summary

DHL Global Forwarding (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking an Ocean Freight Operational Accounting Specialist to uphold financial control for the Ocean Freight arm. You will close financial files accurately, monitor KPIs, and collaborate with Operations and Finance to enhance profitability and process excellence.

The role requires a degree in logistics/finance and at least two years in freight forwarding or operational finance, with strong Excel and stakeholder skills. Based in USJ, Selangor, Malaysia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Logistics, Transportation, Finance, Accounting and/or Business Studies with minor in logistics/supply chain.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Freight Forwarding, Logistics, Operational Finance, Accounting, or related functions especially in Ocean Freight.
• Understanding of accounting principles, financial reconciliation and operational finance processes.
• Excellent time management and ability to prioritise work.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Strong stakeholder management and written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; advanced Excel.
• Experience with CargoWise One or CW1 is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Support accurate financial file closing and ensure compliance with financial control standards.
• Monitor operational accounting KPIs including revenue leakage, unbilled files, billing timeliness, loss-making files and accrual performance.
• Identify root causes of operational accounting issues and drive continuous improvement.
• Analyze and resolve customer and vendor disputes with Operations, Finance and stakeholders.
• Monitor vendor cost controls and support actions to prevent gross profit leakage.
• Partner with country, regional and global teams to maximise file-level profitability.
• Maintain process documentation and ensure compliance with internal policies.
• Support onboarding, knowledge sharing and training within the team.

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Ocean Freight Operational Accounting Specialist to support financial control processes within our Ocean Freight business. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial file closing, improving gross profit performance, monitoring operational accounting KPIs and partnering with Operations and Finance teams to drive process excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Support accurate financial file closing and ensure compliance with financial control standards.

To be successful in this position, we expect your qualification to have:
