Senior Finance Executive

Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Finance Executive, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and providing financial support to operational teams to drive profitability and efficiency.
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements and management reports.
- Handle full set of accounts, including GL, AR, AP, and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure timely month-end closing and reporting.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and credit control.
Billing & Cost Management (Specific to Freight Forwarding)
- Oversee accurate billing of freight charges, haulage, customs clearance, and other logistics-related services.
- Verify supplier invoices (shipping lines, hauliers, customs agents, warehouses) against operations records.
- Monitor job costing and profitability analysis for shipments and trade lanes.
- Support operations in quotation costing, rate comparisons, and margin analysis.
Compliance & Taxation
- Ensure compliance with SST, corporate tax, and other statutory requirements.
- Liaise with auditors, tax agents, banks, and government authorities (e.g. RMCD for SST matters).
- Support preparation of audit schedules and respond to audit queries.
- Assist in banking matters such as trade financing, forex, facilities renewal, and cash flow reporting.
Business Partnering with Operations
- Work closely with operations team to align financial performance with business activities.
- Provide financial insights for pricing, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements.
- Support management in strategic decision-making by providing P&L analysis, KPIs, and variance reports.
Technology, AI, Process Improvement & Internal Control
- Explore and apply AI and digital tools in finance processes, e.g. invoice matching, AR collection tracking, fraud detection, and financial reporting automation.
- Strengthen internal controls, especially on billing, collections, and vendor payments.
- Streamline workflows with operations to reduce disputes and delays.
- Propose continuous improvements to increase efficiency and reduce manual work.
Required Skills & Experiences:
Education & Professional Background
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
- Professional certification (e.g. ACCA, CPA, MICPA, CIMA) is an added advantage.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in finance/accounting, preferably in the logistics / freight forwarding industry.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards (MFRS) and local tax regulations (SST, corporate tax)
- Hands‑on experience in billing, AR/AP, GL, cash flow management, cost allocation, and monthly closing.
- Familiar with freight forwarding operations: shipping, haulage, customs clearance, warehousing, and handling vendor/customer billing disputes.
- Proficient in accounting software (SQL) and MS Excel (pivot, VLOOKUP).
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to work under pressure.
- Good communication skills in English & Bahasa Malaysia (Mandarin is a plus for dealing with certain clients/vendors).
- A team player who can collaborate with operations & management while providing financial insights.
