• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

About the role

We are seeking an experienced O&M Engineer to join Astern Technologies Sdn Bhd in Klang, Selangor. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal operation and maintenance of our engineering systems and infrastructure. As an O&M Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational performance, conducting preventative maintenance, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing improvements to maximise efficiency and reliability. This role is essential to our commitment to delivering exceptional service and maintaining the highest standards of engineering excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Monitoring and managing the daily operations of engineering systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with established procedures
• Conducting scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs to minimise downtime and extend asset lifespan
• Troubleshooting technical faults and resolving operational issues promptly and efficiently
• Performing routine inspections and diagnostic tests on equipment and systems
• Maintaining comprehensive maintenance logs, records and documentation for all equipment servicing and repairs
• Identifying opportunities for operational improvements and implementing recommendations to enhance efficiency
• Liaising with suppliers, contractors and internal teams to coordinate maintenance activities and procurement of parts
• Ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations throughout all operations and maintenance activities
• Training and supporting junior maintenance staff or technicians as required
• Responding to emergency situations and implementing corrective actions when necessary

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• Minimum 2-3 years of professional experience in operations and maintenance within an engineering or industrial environment
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC, pumps, compressors or similar equipment
• Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with a methodical approach to identifying root causes
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, manuals and specifications
• Experience with computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) or similar software
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation and records
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental compliance requirements in industrial settings
• Certification in relevant trade skills or equipment operation is advantageous
• Valid driving licence is preferred
