Job summary

Molex Malaysia is seeking a Process Engineer (NPI SMT & Automation) to drive new product introduction and manufacturing process development in an SMT environment. You will optimise manual, semi‑automated, and automated assembly to boost productivity, quality, and cost performance during launches and ramp‑ups.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline.
• 4–5 years of experience in NPI builds, process engineering, automation development, or manufacturing engineering.
• Knowledge of SMT processes, soldering, assembly, automation equipment, tooling, and manufacturing engineering principles.
• Knowledge of DOE, SPC, PFMEA, and process validation techniques.
• Experience using CAD tools such as Siemens NX or SolidWorks for tooling and fixture reviews.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to optimise complex manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimise, and sustain manufacturing processes including SMT, reflow ovens, wave soldering machines, and solder paste printing equipment.
• Support NPI projects by ensuring process readiness, equipment qualification, and manufacturing capability.
• Participate in engineering reviews and implement process improvements to support new product introductions.
• Collaborate with Product Design, Automation, Quality, Operations, and Suppliers to develop robust manufacturing solutions.
• Support the development of tooling, fixtures, automation equipment, and assembly modules from concept through implementation.
• Conduct process studies, validation activities, and capability evaluations to improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.
• Prepare documentation including Process Flow Charts, PFMEA, Control Plans, Work Instructions, and validation reports.
• Ensure processes comply with safety, quality, and engineering standards.
• Support continuous improvement and standardisation initiatives across manufacturing operations.
• Provide manufacturing engineering support across manual, semi-automated, and fully automated assembly processes.
• Support NPI industrialisation from prototype builds through production ramp-up.
• Drive tooling, fixtures, and automation solution implementations and optimisations.
• Improve process capability, yield, productivity, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Support capacity expansion, process transfers, and continuous improvement projects.
• Validate compliance with safety, quality, and manufacturing standards throughout development and production.
