Job summary

Molex Malaysia seeks a Process Engineer (NPI SMT & Automation) to support new product introduction and manufacturing process development within an SMT environment. Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Manufacturing Engineering.
• 4–5 years in NPI builds, process engineering, or automation development.
• Knowledge of SMT, soldering, and assembly processes.
• Experience with DOE, SPC, PFMEA, and process validation techniques.
• Experience using CAD tools for tooling reviews.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimise, and sustain SMT, reflow, wave soldering, and solder paste printing processes.
• Support NPI projects by ensuring process readiness and equipment qualification.

Molex Malaysia is seeking a Process Engineer (NPI SMT & Automation) to support new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing process development within an SMT environment. This role develops, optimises, and sustains manual, semi-automated, and automated assembly processes to improve productivity, quality, and cost performance while supporting successful product launches and manufacturing readiness.

Our Team

You will be part of the CCS Manufacturing Engineering team in Penang, working closely with Product Design, MXCD, Project Management, System Engineering, Automation Engineering, Quality, Operations, Production, Sourcing, and external suppliers. Together, the team drives successful NPI industrialisation, manufacturing excellence, automation implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives across operations.

What You Will Do

• Develop, optimise, and sustain manufacturing processes, including SMT, reflow ovens, wave soldering machines, and solder paste printing equipment.
• Support NPI projects by ensuring process readiness, equipment qualification, and manufacturing capability.
• Participate in engineering reviews and implement process improvements to support new product introductions.
• Collaborate with Product Design, Automation, Quality, Operations, and Suppliers to develop robust manufacturing solutions.
• Support the development of tooling, fixtures, automation equipment, and assembly modules from concept through implementation.
• Conduct process studies, validation activities, and capability evaluations to improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.
• Prepare documentation, including Process Flow Charts, PFMEA, Control Plans, Work Instructions, and validation reports.
• Ensure processes comply with safety, quality, and engineering standards.
• Support continuous improvement and standardisation initiatives across manufacturing operations.
• Provide manufacturing engineering support across manual, semi-automated, and fully automated assembly processes.
• Support NPI industrialisation from prototype builds through production ramp-up.
• Drive the implementation and optimisation of tooling, fixtures, and automation solutions.
• Improve process capability, yield, productivity, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Support capacity expansion, process transfers, and continuous improvement projects.
• Validate compliance with safety, quality, and manufacturing standards throughout process development and production implementation.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 4–5 years of experience in NPI builds, process engineering, automation development, or manufacturing engineering.
• Knowledge of SMT processes, soldering processes, assembly processes, automation equipment, tooling, and manufacturing engineering principles.
• Knowledge of manufacturing methodologies such as DOE, SPC, PFMEA, and process validation techniques.
• Experience using CAD tools such as Siemens NX or SolidWorks for tooling and fixture reviews.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to optimise complex manufacturing processes.
• Basic understanding of mechanical design, engineering drawings, and automation equipment.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to learn and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

What Will Put You Ahead

• Experience with SMT process design, fixture or tooling review,
• Experience using CAD tools such as Siemens NX or SolidWorks, and enterprise tools such as Teamcenter or Polarion.
