Job summary

Ferummas Precision Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd in Malaysia's Penang region is seeking a hands-on NPI engineer. You will work with Engineering, Tooling, Production and QA/Metrology to develop, validate and transfer new products into mass production.

Key tasks include reviewing drawings and GD&T, feasibility studies, tooling coordination, FAI/PPAP, dimensional inspection with CMM/VMM, and driving corrective actions while maintaining close communication with customers and supporting audits.

Qualifications

• End-to-end NPI experience from requirement to production.
• Experience in metal stamping, sheet metal, CNC machining or precision manufacturing.
• Hands-on dimensional inspection and GD&T knowledge.
• Strong communication with customers on technical clarifications and samples.
• Coordinate multiple functions and drive corrective actions in NPI projects.
• Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial/Mechatronics engineering.
• 1–3+ years in NPI/manufacturing/industrialization.

Job description

This is a hands-on, end-to-end NPI role. You will work closely with customers and our Engineering, Tooling, Production and QA/Metrology teams to ensure new products are developed, validated and successfully transferred into mass production.

Key responsibilities

Reviewing customer drawings, specifications, GD&T and product requirements

Conducting manufacturing feasibility and risk assessment

Coordinating tooling, process development, engineering trials and pilot runs

Coordinating FAI / PPAP / inspection reports / customer submissions, where applicable

Working with QA / Metrology on CMM, VMM and dimensional inspection requirements

Analysing dimensional and process issues and driving corrective actions

Communicating directly with customers on technical, quality, sample and NPI matters

Supporting customer audits, technical reviews and product meetings

Ensuring a smooth handover from NPI to Production and successful first shipment to customer

About you

End-to-end NPI experience personally handling NPI from customer requirement / drawing through development, validation and commercialization

Strong understanding of metal stamping, sheet metal, CNC machining, tooling or precision manufacturing processes

Hands‑on experience with dimensional inspection, CMM / VMM, GD&T, tolerances and quality validation

Comfortable communicating directly with customers on technical clarification, samples, quality issues, inspection results and product requirements

Able to coordinate multiple functions, identify issues early, drive corrective actions and take an NPI project all the way to production and customer shipment

Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics or related discipline

1–3+ years of relevant NPI / Manufacturing / Industrialization experience

Good command of English, both written and spoken

Strong analytical, communication and coordination skills

Hands‑on, proactive and able to work independently
