Job summary

Ichia Technologies Sdn Bhd in Kedah is seeking an NPI Engineer to manage New Product Introduction projects from development through mass production, coordinating cross-functional teams to meet quality, cost, delivery and customer requirements.

The role involves creating and validating manufacturing processes, writing work instructions, maintaining schedules, conducting FAI and process validation, and driving continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred; electronics manufacturing experience is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of NPI processes, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, Process Flow, DOE, and Lean Manufacturing is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ECO/ECN, DFM, and production validation processes.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, technical specifications, and BOM.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems; CAD knowledge is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and project coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in English and Mandarin is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate New Product Introduction projects from development, pilot build, trial run to mass production (NPI).
  • Collaborate with R&D, Production, Quality, Procurement, Planning, and customers to ensure successful product launches.
  • Develop and validate manufacturing processes, WI, SOPs, and production documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain project schedules, timelines, and NPI progress reports.
  • Conduct process validation, trial runs, and First Article Inspection (FAI) for readiness.
  • Identify and resolve technical and manufacturing issues during NPI through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support DFM, DFA, and DFQ initiatives.
  • Coordinate ECO/ECN and participate in APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, and Process Flow as applicable.
  • Monitor yield, process capability, and readiness to ensure ramp-up success.
  • Work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure materials, tooling, and equipment readiness.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, customer requirements and safety regulations.

Job Title: NPI (New Product Introduction) Engineer
Job Summary

The NPI Engineer is responsible for managing and coordinating New Product Introduction (NPI) activities from product development through mass production. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure new products are introduced efficiently, meeting quality, cost, delivery, and customer requirements while supporting continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from development, pilot build, trial run, to mass production.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Production, Quality, Procurement, Planning, and customers to ensure successful product launches.
  • Develop and validate manufacturing processes, work instructions (WI), SOPs, and production documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain project schedules, timelines, and NPI progress reports.
  • Conduct process validation, trial runs, and First Article Inspection (FAI) to ensure product readiness.
  • Identify and resolve technical and manufacturing issues during the NPI stage through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Quality (DFQ) initiatives.
  • Coordinate Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and Engineering Change Notices (ECN).
  • Participate in APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, and Process Flow development where applicable.
  • Monitor product yield, process capability, and manufacturing readiness to ensure smooth production ramp-up.
  • Work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure materials, tooling, and equipment are ready for production.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and cost optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards, customer requirements, and safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred; electronics manufacturing experience is an added advantage.
