Job summary

Iconic Hotel Penang offers an Internship in the MIS Department. The role involves assisting the MIS/IT team with daily IT support across hotel departments, and helping troubleshoot basic hardware, software, and network issues.

You will gain hands-on experience with hotel operations systems such as PMS and POS, assist with user accounts, system access, and IT-related reports, and learn through projects in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Diploma/Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field.
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software and networking.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office applications.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work independently as well as in a team.
• Willing to learn and work in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the MIS/IT team in providing daily IT support to hotel departments and employees.
• Assist with troubleshooting basic hardware, software, network and system-related issues.
• Support the maintenance and monitoring of computers, printers, POS systems and other IT equipment.
• Assist in managing user accounts, system access and basic IT setup for new employees.
• Provide technical support for hotel operational systems, including PMS, POS and other hotel-related applications.
• Assist in software installation, updates and basic system configuration.
• Support data entry, system records and preparation of IT-related reports.
• Assist with regular IT equipment inventory and asset records.
• Support preventive maintenance and routine checks of IT equipment and systems.
• Assist in ensuring proper data security, system access and confidentiality.
• Respond to staff IT requests and elevate technical issues to the relevant IT personnel when required.
• Perform other IT/MIS duties and projects assigned by the supervisor.
