Job summary

Monee in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Merchant Onboarding Specialist to ensure regulatory compliance and a smooth onboarding experience for merchants, including KYB screening and ongoing due diligence. You will collect documentation, perform risk assessments and screening using industry tools, and collaborate with the compliance team to keep processes aligned with regulatory requirements.

The role requires strong English communication and independent work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience in merchant KYB screening and onboarding; regulator reporting in Banking & Finance-wallet.
• Relevant work experience in merchant KYB screening & onboarding, risk management, or regulatory reporting.
• Familiarity with local regulations related to merchant KYB screening and AML/CFT.
• Experience handling high-risk merchant businesses and PEP hits.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
• Enjoy working efficiently and independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Good command in English and fast learner

Responsibilities

• Collect and review merchant documentation (business licenses, incorporation documents, financial statements, ownership info).
• Conduct thorough merchant KYB screening based on risk level per SOP.
• Assess risk level by industry, location, and source of funds.
• Screen merchants using tools (Experian, NexisLexis, Google).
• Oversee KYB screening processes and align system data with merchant documents.
• Collaborate with compliance and risk teams to update KYB processes per regs.
• Improve KYB screening to boost efficiency and accuracy.
• Conduct ongoing due diligence on past merchants per risk level.
• Ensure KYB onboarding is completed within SLA.
• Prepare regulatory reports (Statsmart, RPP).
• Carry out ad-hoc tasks as directed.
