Job summary

China Communications Construction Company – Johor Bahru, Johor is seeking an experienced MEP professional to coordinate all MEP works on-site, review shop drawings, and liaise with consultants and clients. You will supervise installations, monitor progress, and ensure quality and safety compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in MEP coordination, 3 years in Chargeman duties, and solid knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience coordinating MEP works on construction sites.
• Minimum 3 years performing Chargeman duties.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Building Services systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD; BIM/Navisworks is an advantage.
• Mandarin proficiency is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all MEP works on-site to ensure conformance with drawings, specs, and schedules.
• Review MEP shop drawings, method statements, and technical submissions prior to execution.
• Coordinate with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve issues.
• Supervise MEP installations and ensure quality workmanship.
• Monitor project progress and report to Project Manager.
• Coordinate QA/QC inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover.
• Identify clashes and propose practical solutions.
• Operate and maintain electrical distribution systems and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Attend coordination meetings and prepare technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works on-site to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
• Review MEP shop drawings, method statements, and technical submissions prior to execution.
• Coordinate with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and internal project teams to resolve technical and site coordination issues.
• Supervise MEP installation works and ensure quality workmanship in accordance with project requirements.
• Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to the Project Manager.
• Conduct site inspections and coordinate QA/QC inspections, testing, commissioning, and system handover.
• Identify clashes between architectural, structural, and MEP works and propose practical solutions.
• Operate, monitor, and maintain the project's electrical distribution systems and equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective actions for electrical systems.
• Ensure compliance with the Electricity Supply Act, Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga) regulations, and all applicable safety requirements.
• Maintain electrical logbooks, maintenance records, statutory documentation, and inspection reports.
• Coordinate electrical shutdowns, energization activities, and emergency response when required.
• Ensure all MEP and electrical works comply with company policies, client requirements, and local authority regulations.
• Attend coordination meetings and prepare technical reports as required.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
• Valid Chargeman Certificate (AO, A1, A4, or above) issued by the Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in MEP coordination within construction projects.
• Minimum 3 years of experience performing Chargeman duties.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, ELV, and Building Services systems.
• Experience with electrical distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, generators, and LV installations.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD; BIM/Navisworks knowledge is an advantage.
• Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Mandarin proficiency is an advantage.
• Immediate availability is preferred.
