Mechanic - Wheel Loader (Based at Bukit Kemuning, Shah Alam)
In this role, you will be responsible to provide full maintenance, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair support for wheel loaders under the maintenance responsibility of YTL Technologies. The role involves both on-site/field repairs and workshop-based major repairs to ensure equipment is safe and operational with minimum downtime.
Job Description
- Carry out preventive maintenance, servicing, inspection, troubleshooting and repair of wheel loaders at plant sites and our workshop.
- Perform repair works covering engine, hydraulic, transmission, drivetrain, electrical, cooling, steering, braking, EV wheel loader motor and other machine systems.
- Carry out replacement and repair of ground engaging tools (GET), bucket, cutting edges, wear parts and other components.
- Perform major repair, component replacement, dismantling, inspection, reassembly, and testing for wheel loaders sent to the workshop.
- Respond to machine breakdowns and carry out timely on-site repairs to minimise equipment downtime.
- Diagnose equipment faults, identify root causes, and recommend appropriate repair actions.
- Communicate with plant personnel and machine operators regarding machine condition, repair progress, and completion status.
- Complete service/ job reports and record repair activities, parts used, and outstanding issues.
- Ensure proper use and care of tools, equipment and workshop facilities, including good housekeeping.
- Ensure all repair and maintenance activities comply with company and site safety requirements.
- Work efficiently as part of a team and provide support to other mechanics or maintenance teams when required.
- Travel and provide repair and maintenance support to other plant sites/ outstation when required.
- Carry out truck repair at your base workshop when there is no service or repair work for wheel loaders.
Job Requirements
- Certificate / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive, Heavy Equipment or equivalent.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in heavy equipment / wheel loader repair and maintenance.
- Possession of a driving licence Class H will be added advantage.
- Good practical knowledge of wheel loader and heavy equipment systems, including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, engine, and transmission systems.
- Good troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Able to perform both field and workshop repair works independently.
- Good teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work under pressure and respond to urgent breakdowns.
- Willing to travel outstation when required.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and minimising equipment downtime.
