By preventing disruptions and ensuring materials are available when needed, a planner helps avoid expensive setbacks, such as labor idle time, emergency express freight charges, or having to purchase costlier alternative sources. This ultimately lowers operational costs and boosts profits.

Planners work with suppliers to ensure that delivered goods and items meet specific quality standards and comply with all agreed-upon specifications and regulations. They can arrange inspections to verify quality before shipment.

They serve as a key communication link between different departments (e.g., procurement, project managers, suppliers). Their detailed reports provide stakeholders with clear, real-time visibility into project performance and potential risks, enabling informed decision-making.
