MATERIAL PURCHASER (CONSTRUCTION) TAIPING
We are seeking a Material Purchaser (Construction) to join our team in Kamunting, Perak. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our procurement operations. As Material Purchaser, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials and supplies required for construction projects. You will be instrumental in ensuring that our projects receive high-quality materials on time and within budget, directly contributing to the successful delivery of our construction initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and vendors for construction materials and equipment
- Obtain quotations, negotiate pricing, and terms of delivery with suppliers to secure the best value for money
- Process purchase orders and maintain comprehensive records of all procurement transactions
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with project managers to ensure adequate material availability
- Inspect and verify the quality of delivered materials against purchase specifications and project requirements
- Manage supplier relationships and address any issues related to product quality, delivery delays or discrepancies
- Liaise with internal departments including finance, project management and site teams to understand material requirements
- Track and report on procurement costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procurement procedures and relevant regulations
- Maintain accurate documentation and create reports on purchasing activities and supplier performance
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a Material Purchaser, Procurement Officer or similar role within the construction
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment and industry standards
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure competitive pricing and favourable terms
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple suppliers and maintain professional supplier relationships
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
