Job summary

CST Steel Engineering Sdn Bhd in Kulai, Johor, Malaysia, invites a detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to manage material sourcing for steel fabrication and construction projects. You will prepare MTOs, issue POs, negotiate with suppliers and track deliveries to ensure timely material availability.

The role requires 2–3 years of relevant experience, a Diploma or higher in Purchasing or related field, strong Excel skills, and good English communication; Malay and Mandarin are an advantage.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of relevant working experience preferred; fresh graduates welcome.
• Diploma or higher in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Construction, or related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD is an advantage.
• Strong English communication; Malay and Mandarin helpful.

Responsibilities

• Prepare MTO lists from BOQs, drawings and project requirements.
• Manage day-to-day procurement for steel fabrication and construction projects.
• Source new suppliers and maintain relationships with existing suppliers.
• Obtain quotations, negotiate pricing and terms, and identify cost savings opportunities.
• Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) for local and overseas suppliers.
• Follow up on order confirmations, production status and delivery schedules.
• Coordinate with Project, Production, Site and QS teams on material requirements.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to resolve material and project issues.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping agents, Customs and Port Authorities for shipment and clearance.
• Work closely with Storekeeper to monitor inventory and GRNs.
• Check and submit supplier invoices for payment processing.
• Monitor supplier performance in terms of price, quality, delivery and responsiveness.
• Prepare weekly/monthly procurement reports and maintain procurement records.
• Support ISO audits and other company requirements.
• Perform other ad‑hoc duties as assigned by Management.

Prepare Material Take-Off (MTO) lists from material BOQs, fabrication drawings and project requirements.

Manage day-to-day procurement activities for steel fabrication and construction projects.

Source new suppliers and maintain good working relationships with existing suppliers.

Obtain and compare quotations, negotiate pricing and commercial terms, and identify cost‑saving opportunities.

Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) for local and overseas suppliers.

Follow up closely on order confirmations, production status and delivery schedules to ensure timely material availability.

Coordinate with Project, Production, Site and QS teams on material requirements and priorities.

Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to resolve material, delivery and project‑related issues.

Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping agents, Customs and Port Authorities for shipment and clearance matters.

Work closely with the Storekeeper to monitor inventory, stock levels and Goods Received Notes (GRN).

Check and submit supplier invoices and supporting documents to Accounts for payment processing.

Monitor supplier performance in terms of price, quality, delivery and responsiveness.

Prepare weekly/monthly procurement reports and maintain proper procurement records.

Support ISO audits and other company requirements.

Perform other ad‑hoc duties as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements:

2–3 years of relevant working experience is preferred. Fresh graduates or entry‑level candidates are also welcome to apply, as training will be provided.

Diploma or higher qualification in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Construction, or a related field.

Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Knowledge of AutoCAD will be an advantage.

Good communication skills in English are required. Ability to converse in Malay and Mandarin will be an added advantage to communicate with local and overseas suppliers.

5-day work week.
