Job summary

MISC Group's MISC Marine is seeking an experienced sea-going Master to lead the safe operation of LNG/tanker vessels. The role demands strict adherence to ISM, ISO and ISPS standards and active mentoring of crew aboard the fleet.

You will participate in safety reviews, audits, ship-shore drills, and shore-side fleet management activities, with emphasis on risk mitigation, incident response, and environmental excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as sea-going Master.
• Ideally 2+ years shore management experience in shipping companies.
• Command experience on board oil/gas tankers and working for a ship owner in a fleet management role.
• Knowledge of shipping industry and LNG/tanker business.

Responsibilities

• Maintain vessel to ISM/ISO/ISPS standards.
• Review safety committee minutes and ensure follow-up actions.
• Manage NCN/near miss reports and MOC forwarding to Corporate HSSEQ.
• Investigate incidents and prepare initial reports.
• Monitor Port State Control and Flag State inspections.
• Maintain nautical standards on board and environmental excellence.
• Conduct and review ship-shore drills and share reviews with Corporate HSSEQ.
• Review and manage vessel risk assessments and mitigation processes.

Education

Maritime related degree or Certificate of Competency Class 1

Job description

This role resides under MISC Marine (the Integrated Marine Services arm of MISC Group).

Key Accountabilities

Safety and Environmental Management

• To make sure that the vessel is maintained to ISM/ISO/ISPS standards.
• To review all safety committee meeting and SMR minutes and respond to vessels as required. Ensure action items mentioned in the minutes are followed up and closed out.
• Manage and respond to NCN/near miss reports. Ensuring that any MOC’s and improvement ideas are forwarded to the Corporate HSSEQ.
• To investigate/respond and support any incident/injury on the vessel and prepare an initial report.
• Monitor and manage Port State Control and Flag State inspections and their close-outs.
• Maintain nautical standards on board to the highest standards.
• Ensure vessel is operating to the company standards of environmental excellence.
• To conduct and review ship-shore drills and share the drill reviews with the Corporate HSSEQ
• To review and manage all the risk assessments from vessels. Carry out the established processes to mitigate and minimize the risks.

Audits

• Ensure vessels are prepared for the various internal and external audits. Responsible for guiding the vessel in responding and closing out the audit findings.

Vessel Support

• Will be responsible for briefing/de-briefing and mentoring of sea staff. Conduct regular visits to the vessels under his charge.

Security

• Responsible for all aspects of security of the vessel.

Job Requirements

Education
